Promatic hands down a great after sales service here in Ireland for advice, parts etc

Laporte if you're setting it up in a trap house never to move again, it will work away maintenance free forever. Promatic if you're moving it around a lot for Sporting disciplines, they're lighter and more rugged. Electrics in Promatics are a lot simpler to replace/repair. If you plan to leave Promatics out in the elements, remove the motor casing and drill a drainage hole in the lowest part, otherwise rain water will gather and blow your motor.

we have 11 promatic one old laporte and 4 of the newer laporte 185pc 8c
we are looking at getting some new traps looking at the promatic osprey
but is it as good as the laporte 185 for loopers and teel

I'm not familiar with the Osprey, but the Ranger series threw decent teal but crap loopers. It was impossible to get a good curl on the birds. I'm told you can get a different launch plate for curling birds but haven't seen one. If you don't want to buy a trap specifically designed for loopers, Bidwells can throw a decent one by tilting the trap sideways - not a true looper, but fun to shoot.
