Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

if they put it on fuel, Id say there would be a large drop in the amount of fuel purchased, people would be more likely to walk for short journeys, car pool, downsize car, avoid unnecessary journeys even more so, go electric, switch to lpg etc... And why is this? because people would be feeling the would be getting one over on the government, doing them out of tax, kind of similar to the person spending 40-50k a few years ago on the 520d to get the low tax... you would also then have the people close to border currently fuelling in south, fuelling up north and those just south of the border, topping up up north. Might also lead to resurgence of border shopping again...

There was somebody on boards pulled up because the APNR couldn't read his plate and it must have beeped at the Garda, I remember now it was German style numbers.
The muck might work alright so.

I also reckon quite a few people paying highish tax, drive quite a bit more than they need to, just to justify the high tax...

True. But muck is a moveable feast.

    mmmm.

There is something about having a car outside your door where the 'meter' is running on it, even if you DON'T use it. For a 3 litre car, it would be €4.50 a day. Every day. All year round. Very hard to ignore that tbh.
