Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Value of Dual 701 Electronic Direct Drive Turntable

Hi, I have decided to de-clutter the place and now it's time for my beloved Dual 701 turntable to go. Can anyone give me an idea of what the value of this turntable would be at this day and age?

I bought it in 1975. Even have the Operating instructions for it still. It was used extremely little for it's age. I was in the habit of buying a vinyl, putting it on tape and never taking it out again. I haven't actually used this turntable for years, although it's connected to my stereo. A couple of years ago I connected it straight onto the audio input of my desktop computer and recorded a couple of LPs I wanted to keep, which worked perfectly well.

So now I'm planning to sell it on eBay, but don't have much of an idea of it's actual value. Can anyone put a realistic price on it?

    Thanks, Robert

The DUAL 701 was a very well liked turntable but obviously it's very dated now. There are guys, myself included, who would rebuild it and give it a solid base, a new cart and probably a new arm and give it a whole new life. I'd suggest you advertise on a more specialist forum such as http://www.tirnahifi.org/forum/index.php where you'll get people who won't rip you off.
At a wild guess you could get anywhere from €50 - €150 but it depends on how much work the buyer is willing to do.

Thanks for your reply. You may think me daft for not checking it out before posting here, but I was totally convinced that there was nothing wrong with it. But before answering your reply, I thought just that -- maybe I should go and check it out. It switched on fine and was running for a few minutes while I was trying to remember the adjustments of the balancing weights. Then there was a burning smell and that was the end of it. It stopped.

Guess that would be less than €50 now :-(

I'd say so. :( Still worth putting up there as someone might be happy to replace the motor.

I'll check out tomorrow what actually went on it. Thanks for your help and the website address.
