Anyone have any codes they don't want? Also, are the codes linked to the device?

No, they're not linked. I think someone mentioned a friend giving him one earlier.

My 16 digit code turned up, now to check it.

If anyone has registered their 3DSXL previously and couldn't find where to choose your free game:
    Log into Club Nintendo
    Go to "My Account"
There should be a banner with your Stars Balance and an image of women sitting cross legged.
Click the arrow on the right hand side and there is a link to claim your free game on the new banner.

Got my code just there. Keep getting this error. I've double checked it, tried it in all caps, lower case, replaced 0 with O, nothing works.

    Any ideas?

    Yep, Layton

    Yep, Layton

Did you get two emails, one with "username, we have important information about your 3DS" as well as the download code one?
Because i got both with Super Mario 3D Land (and it's working code) but only the one for Layton....you'd think something like this would be relatively easy for them to NOT mess up

Nope, just the one with the code for Layton! Maybe there's another one due and that'll resolve it, but I can't imagine so since they've already given me a code and it's not attached to my account or anything :(

It took me ages to see that the banner could be changed, was a bit annoyed with myself (and Nintendo) when I eventually worked out where it was.

I'm caught between getting either SM3DL or New Style Boutique. I already own SM3DL but wouldn't mind having it on my system to play any time, but I also here New Style Boutique is actually a pretty good RPG-like game. I have both Layton and Art Academy, and I own the original version of Freakyforms which I didn't really get into.

    Any ideas?

How big is the Super Mario 3D download. I have a 32gb card in a camera, might swap it out, will the 3DS take it a card that big?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,024 ✭✭✭✭ShaneU

    Yeah 32gb is the max

Yeah, have a 32GB card in mine.

Super Mario 3D Land is ~512MB.

Decided to go with New Style Boutique (Style Savvy: Trendsetters) as it was the only game I don't own. I've heard it's pretty good...anyone else get it?

  • Site Banned Posts: 1,678 ✭✭✭Andy!!

    Cheers Epic and Shane.

Hmm, 512mb... wonder if a 32gb would be overkill. Probably would be. The unit came with a 4GB card anyway.

Yeah, I'm using less than 10% of my 32GB, I just got it because it wasn't much more than a 16GB card, and I'll probably never need to worry about it again. It's easy to upgrade down the road if you need, just copy the files from one card to the other using a PC :)

I just registered and was told to expect my code within a few days. I'd email them just to be safe :)

Had a 16GB going to waste (mostly) in my Wii, so copied my 3DS data onto that and using it now :) Big jump going from 25 blocks free to 70 thousands

Oh Christ is this a Europe only thing? I registered the machine with Nintendo through the US site :(

The machine is American anyway, so would it have made a difference if I had done it through a european site?

It's very unlikely that either the PIN or serial number from your US 3DS would have been accepted by the UK/Ireland Club Nintendo.

I was going to say that if the 3ds is a European version, I don't think it'd matter which site you registered on, since it mentions here that the device must be from Europe, but mentions the main club-nintendo.com site:
    http://m.joystiq.com/2012/11/28/nintendo-offers-free-eshop-games-to-3ds-xl-owners-in-europe/
But yeah since it's a US console it wouldn't be eligible for the free game. I only realized that today, Nintendo of Europe are actually really nice to us! :)

Ah Nintendo, sending droves and droves of customers into the welcoming arms of R4 card makers, as usual.

Not really. They've pretty much killed piracy with the 3DS (lessons learned, and all that). :o

How so? By offering free games to people that buy/register the 3DS?

The 3DS has been hacked. Cards shouldn't take too long.

    By screwing select territories.

Some how I dont think the 3DS will be hacked like the DS was. With updates being released the general parent wont know how to go about it so no R4 cards for the 3DS thank god.

    Buy your games people!

Don't think parents are the target demographic with the R4 cards. And my 3DS hasn't been online yet. Would have been, if this offer wasn't Europe only.

And people quite happily use CFW PS3's online with no issues.

Hi. I got 2 3DS XL's at xmas :) I got my free professor layton game, however I registered my second DS XL against the same account - they only give 1 free game against each account, it's in the terms and conditions, bit of a Ryanair job - it's there alright written somewhere amidst the 700 words. Does anyone know is there a way around this?? I'm thinking not?

I got mine pretty early on. I selected the game I wanted and got an email with two days.

Got mine last night. Had trouble registering on Christmas day due to their site being swamped so had to get onto their helpline to sort it out on Wednesday. They sorted it and were really good to deal with.

About to choose the free game, left it late to decide, and I'm still torn between either New Art Academy and FreakyForms Deluxe. Anyone with either or both able to help me out? :pac:

I enjoyed the original version of Freakyforms somewhat, as a 7 euro download...but had absolutely no urgh to pick up the full version as it didnt seem to offer much.

If i had the choice between the two of those, i'd choose Art Academy to be honest! :)
