Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

No Crests. No long write ups. :D (Especially For Xavi :P)

Liverpool travel to WHL looking to extend their 8 game unbeaten run. Spurs will be looking for back to back wins after their 3-1 win over their London rivals West Ham last weekend. With Defoe in a run of form he will be looking to add to his goal tally this season. Liverpool will be looking to turn the recent draws in to wins & hope that Luiz Suarez continues his fine goal scoring form.
The midfield battle is where I see this game won/lost. Spurs have Dembele back and he could really be a handful for Liverpool.
Its a real 6 point game so early in the season. Liverpool's last win at WHL was in 2008 and have lost in four subsequent visits. I think they will buck the trend for this one.
I'm gonna go for a 2-1 win Liverpool

    Possible Teams

Tottenham (Possible, 4-2-3-1): Lloris; Walker, Dawson, Caulker, Vertonghen; Sandro, Huddlestone; Lennon, Dempsey, Bale; Defoe.
Out: Adebayor (suspended), Parker (Achilles), Assou-Ekotto, Kaboul (both knee).

Liverpool (Possible, 4-3-3): Reina; Wisdom, Skrtel, Agger, Johnson; Allen, Gerrard, Suso; Sterling, Suárez, Enrique.
Out: Borini (foot), Kelly, Lucas (match fitness).
    Test: Wisdom (knee).

    3-1 Spurs

    Hate this fixture

Keeping Defoe well and truly shackled is the key to this game.
Bale and Lennon can run and run and run all they want, but their final ball will always be aimed at Defoe, either across the box or into the space behind Agger anD Skrtle. Keep him under wraps and we'll do well this eve.

Dempsey i dont rate, so let him run wild and free !!

    Que Demspsey Hat-trick eh

Can't see anything outside of a Spurs win unfortunately. Dempsey to come back and haunt us too.

3-0 Spurs and a red for Liverpool

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,128 ✭✭✭NabyLadistheman

We got something at Chelsea so don't see why we cant at Spurs. I watched them against West Ham and they did seem shaky at the back. They will be out to attack from the get go so we should be able to counter effectively

Re OP: There is a post in the Liverpool thread stating Henderson will start instead of Suso.

Cant see LFC getting any better than a draw. Defoe can be lethal, and cant see Wisdom living with Bale.
Our only hope going IMO is Sterling beating Vertonghen, and some Suarez magic

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,386 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

    2-0 Spurs.

Can't see where Liverpool are going to score from, bar Suarez deciding to do his Messi impression.

    .
Luis Suarez is 6/1 to be first goalscorer tonight, whilst Sterling is a hefty 14/1 http://bit.ly/TDE90E

I hate WHL, when was the last time Liverpool left with 3 points? It seems like a long long time ago(i know some smart arse will tell me it was in the last 2 years now but im too lazy to check myself)

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,855 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

Can't be any worse than last season's debacle at WHL anyhow surely?

Liverpool never really seem to do well in this fixture so I'd take a point now. Will be 1 behind Spurs if we win, will be 7 behind if we lose.

Downing starts according to some chatter, presumably Wisdom not being risked.

Bale and Lennon will be swapping positions all night. They will both destroy Downing, id love if Robinson was on the left.

Our last victory at WHL was on the last day of the 07/08 season :(

Really wish Berba was around for this! What happened that rogue?

Rodgers is using up a lot of credit and goodwill playing Downing and Cole more often recently.

Cant find any reason why Robinson hasnt been tried this season. Every game hes played hes been capable in defence, quick and eye for a pass.

IMO this should of been the game for Sky to broadcast, has the potential to be a much better game than Wigan v City

Sky have an obligation to show the smaller teams some times during the season. The one they are showing gets 2 of those teams some tv time.

    #LFC XI vs Spurs:

Reina, Johnson, Downing, Agger, Skrtel, Allen, Gerrard, Henderson, Enrique, Sterling, Suarez

subs : Jones, Sahin, Assaidi, Carragher, Shelvey, Suso, Wisdom

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,379 ✭✭✭hefferboi

    I'd like to see:

    Reina
    Johnson/Gerrard----Wisdom----Skrtel----Agger---Enrique

    Allen----Sahin

    Suso

    Sterling/Gerrard
    Suarez

    Never going to happen though.

Surprised that Gerrard has started again. Honestly thought he might have been rested as he has played quite a lot of football recently.
