    So we can post details of events etc going on as most are only heard about through word of mouth..

    For anyone looking for something to do over Christmas Tinahely Riding club are hosting Hunter Trials on the 30th December open to all..

    Clonshire Equestrian Centre are running a charity show on Sunday next January 6th and all proceeds will go to Clionas Foundation. Jumping and dressage and all entries will be taken on the day. We will have two indoors and weather permitting the outdoor as well. The Eddie McCarthy trophy will be presented and there will be a jump off and derby course. There are two dressage tests and Lucy Miller & Vincent O'Donnell will be the judges. Dressage will start at 12pm and copies of the tests are available from Tes in the office. Please come and support this worthwhile event.

    TREC Ireland National Championships 2013 including European Cup & Qualifier for BHS Championships 2013 & Affiliated Groups Perpetual Trophy

    Consisting of full 3-phase competition from Level 1 (suitable for newcomer) to Level 4 (advanced)

    Date: 19th-21st July 2013

    Nestled at the meeting point of the lake county of Westmeath, the royal county of Meath and Cavan’s rolling drumlins, Ross House provides the setting for the 2013 TREC Ireland National Championships. The competition will be held over two days and will comprise three phases.
    1. The POR (Orienteering) phase will take riders through quiet roads and lanes, farmland and woodlands with views of the stunning Lough Sheelin as the backdrop to the orienteering. Competitors may be riding through fields of livestock. Please use common sense when riding past animals and adhere to the country code and at all times. Remember if you find a closed gate, please close again behind you. A maximum of 240 points are available for this section with the length and difficulty of the route relevant to the class.
    2. In the CoP (Control of Paces) phase the schooling of the horse’s gaits are tested with riders demonstrating slow canter and fast walk over a distance of not more than 150m. A maximum of 60 points are available for this phase.
    3. The PTV (Obstacles) phase is a timed cross-country course involving 16 natural or simulated obstacles. The obstacles will be selected from the 38 obstacles approved by TREC Ireland. Datasheets detailing the obstacles and scoring for each of these may be downloaded from the download section of the website www.trecireland.com. There is a maximum of 160 points available for this phase.

    CLASSES
    Class 1: Level 1 Pairs
    Maximum distance POR: 5-15km
    Maximum height PTV: 60cm

    Class 2: Level 2 Pairs
    Maximum distance POR: 15-25km
    Maximum height PTV: 80cm

    Class 3: Level 2 Individuals
    (As above Class 2)

    Class 4: Level 3 Pairs
    Maximum distance POR: 25-35km
    Maximum height PTV: 90cm
    May include compass bearings, grid references and/or aerial photos.

    Class 5: Level 3 Individuals
    (As above Class 4)
    May include compass bearings, grid references and/or aerial photos.

    Class 6: Level 4 Individuals – FITE European Cup
    Maximum distance POR: 35-45km
    Maximum height PTV: 1.10m
    May include compass bearings, grid references and/or aerial photos.

    Class 7: Team Competition
    Teams to consist of 3 or 4 riders across all levels and groups. Please enter by 8pm on Friday 19th July
    NB: this class automatically includes Kaspyr Kup teams (see below) – so riders entering Class 8 do not have to enter again for Class 7.

    Class: 8 Kaspyr Kup – Affiliated Group Teams Trophy.
    For rules please see www.trecireland.com. Teams must be entered and prepaid by the closing date via the Group Secretary on a separate form sent directly to Celie O Rahilly and riders finalised prior to 8pm on Friday 19th July 2013

    Class 9: Veteran Class.
    Horses over 20 or Riders over 60 (one or the other, not both).

    Class 10: BHS Qualifier for British Championships 2013.
    Levels 2, 3 and 4 included. To compete in the BHS Championships in the U.K. riders must be paid up BHS Gold Members.

    Please note: Riders under 16 must enter as a pair with a rider aged 18 or over. TREC Ireland cannot take responsibility for finding partners for any riders.

    Friday evening shows at Kilronan Equestrian Centre starting at 6:00pm. Classes start at 50cm and work upwards. New rubber / fiber mix in the arena and two rounds, regardless of faults, assistance available if needed.
    Equitation style league beginning 20th September , full size flood lit warm up ring available.

    Amazing prize organised for the "rider of the series". This award will be run as a league over the 11 weeks starting the 20th September. Each week a 1st, 2nd and 3rd will be chosen and judged on style and turnout. The weekly winner will receive 10 points, 6 for 2nd and 4 for 3rd. The rider with the most points at the end of the series will be crowned " rider of the series " and receive the award.

    The prize for the " rider of the series " at Kilronan winter show league is:

    Meet and greet our London Olympic medallist and Dublin Grand prix winner 2013, Cian O Connor at Karlswood stables.

    Have a lesson with Cian on your horse.

    Stable tour of Karlswood . An opportunity to see Blue Loyd , Unique , Cooper and the rest of Cian's team.

    This is an opportunity to meet and train with one of the best riders on the planet .

    Furthermore, the equitation winner each week will win a fleece cooler worth €80.

    I thought some boardsies in this parish might be interested in this event:

    Our ever growing annual Cross Country Chase in association with The Meath Hunt will take place on Sunday, October 6th at 2pm.
    This event is now a firm favourite on the Chase circuit and offers a unique opportunity to ride some of the finest lands the country has to offer surrounding Ireland’s tidiest town.
    The starting point is at The Castle Villa Pitch, Moynalty where refreshments will be served prior to the chase.
    Meeting time is 1.30pm with the chase beginning at 2pm and there will be both Junior and Adult courses.
