Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Short version: Switching from one rom (AOKP) to another (Parnoid Android). I used the clockwork rom back up does that include my app details or do i need to use titanium or can i (fingers crossed) just flash and go. I think i already know the answer but just want to be sure.

Long Version: Goo.im app gave me loads of ROM choices and even though i'm fairly happy with AOKP paranoid Androd appealed to me but i only found it after i had AOKP installed.

Now i have it all set up pretty much the way i like it with shortcuts and apps but i'm still curious.

I used the clockwork recovery manager to back up (twice) and it gave me ~19mb backup folder.

Now obviously this doesn't include apps but guessing it stores all the settings etc.

So again question is if i installed PA would i need to use titanium or would the apps carry through to it. and if anything goes wrong and i use the backup are apps gone again?

As long as you dont wipe your data before installing the new rom you apps should be ok

Be warned that not wiping your data can cause anything from buggy behavior to boot loops.

And a full wipe AFAIK is only needed when changing from stock.

I have everything backed up regardless I'm just thinking of ease as I'm lazy!

I think clockwork just backs up the ROM settings itself. If you wanna backup apps and app data (such as angry birds games saves) you'll need to use something like titanium or my backup root.

Shouldn't the backup folder be larger than that ?
If possible copy your backups off the phone just in case!
I usually use titanium backup then do a nandroid, then upgrade rom. if it goes pear shaped you've two ways to restore! I also sometimes use mybackup pro too!

Titanium is great for backing up your apps, it wont get wiped either when you wipe your data, but keep a backup on your pc just in case. You can pick and choose which apps to reinstall then once your done.

    My flash procedure is

    1. Titanium
    2. SMS Backup and Restore
    3. Clockwork full backup.
    4. Flash new rom without wipe.

If it doesn't boot or I get force closes I'll do a wipe and restore titanium and sms

There's a fairly recent feature in titanium backup where you can create an update.zip of whatever apps you like (with or without data) and then you can flash it right after you install your new ROM. Pretty handy. Open TB and press the menu button on the main screen, scroll down and select 'create update.zip' or something similar.

    cheers for all the tips,

just tried the old flash and i kept getting issues with apps etc so wiped data and reinstalled PA

that sorted all the issues and was able to install what i needed using titanium but it wasn't as nice as AOKP.

wiped data again and installed AOKP and once that was done i used restore from clockwork and all apps and settings were back just the way they were. wasn't an instant install but not to bad all considering.
