It's still €249.99 in Smyths, or €279.99 for the Wind Waker bundle.

    Thank you!

Maybe I'll finally pick one up. :)

I love Nintendo and be devastated to see them stop producing hardware. on the other hand Zelda and Mario on PS4/XB1, that could be incredible.

There's not even the slightest chance of either of those things happening! It'd take a hell of a lot more than the poor sales of the Wii U to put enough of a dent in Nintendo's bank balance for that to happen.

I agree no way will nintendo allow a console to die, it would cripple thwir stocks and damage nintendos rep in a massive way. Also in a year 3 million consoles sold thats not bad xbox one sold 3.1 million in 3 months but remember nintendo are specialists in 1st party titles..

Im playing my wii u more than my xbox one that says a lot about the wii u the games are class and the gamepad is amazing i love my wii u

Not having a Crack at the Wii U in anyway, I'm just wondering what its future might hold. Even if was announced over night that they would be no further games released I'd still want one.

I agree that it is very unlikely that we'll see Mario on PS4 but I now find myself wondering if its a possibility. 3 Million consoles sold world wide in a year is awful and not sustainable, even now the 360 is selling more than that in 6 Months just in the US. the bare figures might suggest that it is profitable per unit but in terms of Market share it is a disaster and that will have a massively detrimental effect on the health of the Company.

I may be incorrect but from what I understand the Game Cube was millstone round Nintendo's neck for the first 2 or 3 years of its life and but for the DS Nintendo would have been in serious trouble.

The 3ds allows Nintendo to do whatever the flip it wants. It's still selling by the bucket full.

Nintendo won't be making games for Sony or Microsoft any time soon. I wouldn't rule it out altogether but it's very unlikely any time soon.

And again it has a really strong 2014 lineup so lets see how it fairs. I reckon smash bros, mario kart and zelda still have enough pull to sell console in 2014/15.

I didn't like 3dland's dlc though, I expect world to get dlc at some point, I just hope it's more like nslu than nsmb2 dlc.
If they just do character dlc, game over.

    SM3DL has DLC?
    Hold the phone!

BTW, someone was talking about Injustice DLC the other day, so I fired it up and tried to get it. None for sale in the shop even after installing the latest patch. Did some light googling and it appears that it's not available in Ireland, Australia and a couple of other places but has been released for UK and Germany. Not sure why, my money is on Lobo's super move involing a rusty hook and graphic fornication with a space dolphin.

Apparently you can get around it by creating a second profile on the WiiU with a country code set to UK, then download it from the eShop, content is then available for all profiles on the console. Handy, but also a damning indictment of Nintendos half-arsed account management policies.

It's more their region control. I remember the first 3d video (a trailer for green lantern) was on the UK eShop to download free but not Ireland, I switched my region to get it lol.

You don't want DRM that allows local players to use your paid content?

Just bought the latest edition of the official Nintendo magazine.

Donkey Kong on the cover caught my attention. Looks great.

Will have to wait until I'm home before opening it up properly though as I'd be a bit embarresed in work. Looks very childish in fairness.

I tend to read Edge or Games if I'm in work as the look a bit more "adult". I know I shouldnt care etc but well I do.

Heh, I occasionally buy Gamesmaster even though it's for kids. It's more of a nostalgia thing, though. Very occasionally buy the Nintendo one too.

I havent bought gamesmaster in a long long time. I've only started buying the Nintendo one again since getting the Wii U. I passed on the last issue after a brief look through it there was nothing much for me in it but this one looks decent. Buying magazines can easily become a very expensive addiction/hobby. I try to buy different ones on purpose so I dont mind missing a month here or there. I'd become a serial collector otherwise!

I started watching youtube clips of Gamesmaster the other night though. Really brought me back. The first challenge was Super Mario 3, collecting 50 coins. The kid took forever to do it but Dominick Diamond made out that he was great. Fecker got a golden joystick!! I sooo wanted one of those.

    It's good stuff, isn't it? :-D

Related question: anything decent on WiiU eshop/virtual console recently? Haven't bought anything since the Street Fighter games. Any word on N64 games? Haven't bought a new version of OOT since the 3ds!

Also, are they still adding games to the regular Wii virtual console?

Edit: i used to be an absolute divil for buying loads of magazines. Had to call a halt to it, was spending a fortune. Normally just get Games tm these days. Thinking about stopping that, though, since i have very little time to play these days, and 100% of that is spent on Nintendo. Which means i don't want to know about PS4 or Xbox.

Havent heard anything on the N64 games. Even though I have an N64 hooked up under the telly I'd like the option of playing some games on the gamepad.

As for the magazines, I dont have a PS4 or Xbox1 yet.. Will probably buy a PS4 in 2015. Theres nothing on it at the moment I want and I just cant justify the price tag at the moment. I'm hoping 2014 will be a good year of titles and then a price drop after xmas 2014. I'll continue to buy the likes of Games TM just to keep up to date on PS4 and out of curiosity the other consoles. Thats obviously on top of gaming news I look through online.

Until 2015 I have 3 avenues of gaming:

    1. The Wii U which is my new go to console mainly due to gamepad play but also the IP's are great. Mario, etc...
    2. I'm going through my rather large backlog of 360 games any time I get telly time which is only between 2-4 hours a week unfortunately so it'll take a while...maybe up till 2015! Playing through "Bulletstorm" at the moment. Good game so far. Sat on my book case for the past year or two unopened. Madness really. Moral of story people only buy games as you want to play them, not just randomly cause they're cheap!
    3. The PS Vita. When my Wii U gamepad dies or I fancy something different I use the Vita. PS plus membership has already allowed me to play loads of games on there.

To be fair I've a couple of shelves (really) of xbox games I'd love to get stuck into...still haven't played RDR or the Zombie one, GTAV (started it the week it came out, it's amazing), only played a few hours of Resi 6, Hitman, etc.

Not to mention I've played hardly any of Mario 3D world, got Windwaker the day it came out, played way less than ten hours...

Did manage to play through Pikmin 3. Reason enough to love WiiU. Impossible not to smile through it

the WiiU has some fantastic games. Albeit, not many games, but there are at least the following must haves

    Windwaker
    Wonderful 101
    Pikmin 3
    Mario 3D World
NSMB U (I just love this its gorgeous in HD)
    Rayman Legends
    Trine 2

    Soon:
    Kart
    Tropical Freeze
    Bayonetta 2 (maybe)

I'm loving NSMB luigi U even though it's so hard. I've had to use nabbit character a few times.

Didnt think much of GTA4 tbh but maybe I've just out grown the series. Got bored very quickly.

Resi 6 and Hitman are on my to play list. So many good games on that console. Damn multiplayer Halo and Gears of War took up way too much of my time during the 360's lifespan.

I agree with you on NSMB U. It really is a pleasure to look at.

Pikmin, Windwaker and 101 in that order will be purchased and played soon.

I have Tropical Freeze on preorder.

Your right that theres not a lot of games on the system but nearly every one of them have recieved 8+ out of 10. I would far rather that than a glut of average games just for the sake of quantity.

The WiiU seems to have been almost exclusively built for parents in their 30s and 40s. They've got the VC to leverage all of those nostalgia-inducing SNES titles, they've got Off TV play so you can pretend you care about Sophia finding out what being royal is all about while kicking the Joker's teeth in, they've made it so on all the multiplayer games only you - as the game leader - are holding the really expensive and fragile controller, the rest of the players are clutching rubber-clad indestructible bricks in their jam-covered mits. There are feck all games, but most of them are worth owning, so you don't feel those constant waves of pressure to purchase the next big thing but you do have more than enough to fill your meagre gaming hours.

    Kudos, Nintendo.

There was a great suggestion on the "WiiU is dead in the water" thread on the Games board that Ninty should just buy a couple of studios up to compensate for the lack of 3rd party support. What kind of games would they look at producing though?

Isn't it just the fit meter you need? £15 or so on amazon right now.
