    Anybody any recommendations to bring the young lad to see Santa in Galway, couldn't be bothered to go down to the ailwee caves.

    Aye, usually a little line outside Santa's in the square. And it's easy to do it as part of shopping in town anyway.

    Joyce's in Knocknacarra usually have a free Santa. Same toys as you get elsewhere. I don't know when it starts though.

    If you want to try something different, Saint Nicholas Day is on Thursday (Nov 6th - the traditional day when kids in Eastern Europe get presents from Santa). The Polish shops Papu and Foodland in Liosban usually have a traditional St. Nick during the day for photos and he gives away free gifts (last year a big bag of sweets).

    I'll pop in today and confirm the times.
