I am purchasing an subscription gift for X-Mas and on the applicaiton form you post to them you need to fill in your debit card details. Is this safe enough to do?

It was one of the ways people were using them pre- internet

Obviously, as there is with using it online/in-store/anywhere else, there is a small risk but it's quite minor.
