Renting Around Drumcondra

Me and the girlfriend are thinking about renting in the Drumcondra area. We have a few criteria which limit where we can live, we have two cars which need parking, she works in ballyfermot (drives) and I work in town/Beaumont (cycle, walk, bus etc.). There's a nice selection at the minute but my Dad has reservations…

There's a nice selection at the minute but my Dad has reservations (probably unfounded) about certain areas and warned me away from them. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Richmond Road, Grace Park Road (both ends) and Drumcondra itself in terms of parking on the street, safety, and ease of getting in and out of town? Any tips on other local areas would be much appreciated!
