If you're going down Sydney Rd, try and include the Woodlands Hotel just north of Moreland in Coburg
They have a nice beer menu

If you go over to Lygon St, there's the alehouse

Temple Brewery around the corner, though its not very pub like
    http://www.templebrewing.com.au/beers/

And the B-east just south on Lygon

Good calls there Cooperspale, I am regular at first 2 and big fan of Temple beers, if not the actual brewery (find it bit sterile). Actually their Oatmeal Stout is an absolute cracker!

No pubs planned as yet, haven't been to any of the above listed establishments so that's a good start!

We're here since the end of May & we don't go out all that often so we haven't a big gang of friends at this point to be trawling through pubs with.

So is anyone else actually on for it? The more the merrier.

Jeez we sound like loners from the above post! Honestly, we don't bite, just don't have a gang of friends like home that would be up for it without question.

Sorry, away next week so will miss it

If you are doing Sydney Road then myself and gf might join in at some stage.

What is the general form for this kind of thing? When is too early for kick off? We are Irish after all....

We do one in sydney every year, the only thing I'll say is plan early, the bouncers over here can be so strict, and if you leave it late a load of them won't let you in!

I did one in paddo a few years ago and the bouncer wouldn't let anyone wear a xmas hat (this is 2 weeks before xmas) and 3pm during the day

We did one last year. Started in North Melbourne and was a pretty good route. Here it is if you fancy it!

    Pub/Bar Address Time
    1. The Three Crowns Hotel 365 Victoria Street 2:00 – 2:30
    2. The Town Hall 33 Errol Street 2:40 -3:10
    3. The Leveson 46 Leveson Street 3:20 – 3:50
    4. The Metropolitan Hotel 36 Courtney Street 4:00 – 4:30
    5. Bev n’ Micks Turf Club Hotel 1 Flemington Road 4:40 – 5:10
    6. The Drunken Poet 65 Peel Street 5:20 - 5:50
    7. The Celtic Club (Food Stop) 320 Queen Street 6:00 - 7:00
    8. The Workshop 413 Elizabeth Street 7:10 - 7:40
    9. Softbelly 367 Little Bourke Street 7:50 – 8:20
    10. Sister Bellas 22 Drewery Place 8:30 - 9:00
    11. The Exford Hotel 199 Russell Street 9:10 – 9:40
    12. Bridie O'Reillys 62 Little Collins Street 9:50

It was a pretty good route and finishing in Bridies in the city we were pretty much guaranteed to get in as the bouncers were pretty slack there. Though last time I passed it it was closed for refurbishments. I think we peaked at around 70 people for a few bars, was a pretty good turnout.

And here is one from Christmas 2010:

    Name of Bar Address Time
    1  Little Creatures 222 Brunswick St 2:00-2:30
    2  Napier Hotel 210 Napier St 2:45-3:15
3  The Gertrude Hotel 148 Gertrude St 3:30-4:00
    4  Brown Couch 30 Gertrude Street 4:15-4:45
5  Mrs Parmas 25 Little Bourke st 5:00-5:45
    6  Section 8 27 Tattersalls Lane 6.00-6:30
7  The Carlton Hotel 197 Bourke St 6:45-7:15
8  The Cricketers Bar 103 Spring St 7:30-8:00
    9  Bridie O'Reillys 62 Little Collins Street 8:15-9:00
10  European Bier Café 120 Exhibition Street 9:10-9:40
11  Dr Martins Tavern 86a Collins St 9:55-10:30
    12  The Phoenix Hotel 82 Flinder's St 10:45-11:15

It was good except for the napier Hotel and the Carlton Club didnt want us in there. I mean the Napier hotel was 2nd pub, no one was drunk and they didnt want us there, great business model we thought, here is 30 people having one drink then leaving!

And the phoenix Tavern is now closed so dont plan to go there!
