I think there is a book club if that is the sort of thing you mean

I've seen adverts for a "mens shed" group in Carlow, think they were in the Nationalist this week. I've also seen ads for walking groups in the Askea parish newsletter but doubt if they are men only.

Some organisations listed here on Carlow Tourism might be worth while going through and ringing any one of interest, eg fishing. I know there is a hillwalking group around Carlow but wouldn't know who to contact. You'd probably be better asking in the library if you're in there - they usually know whats on around.

What is a mens shed group? Or is that a very very stupid question?

Not a stupid question at all.

As far as I know it is where few men of all ages get together and do stuff..

I know of one group who were working on restoring old furniture and re upholstered it.

I think it is about, socialising, sharing skills and learning all sorts and having a laugh.

I don't know how to link from my phone, but if you google you'll find them.

In Carlow town and Leighlinbridge that I have heard of.

Well that is a fantastic idea, fair play to all involved.

I suppose without realising it I have my own one. Although mine is referred to as "front yard mechanics". Always taking something apart in my gf's front garden and it seems to be a meeting point now.

Try Barrow Valley Painters, they are doing an expo in the library at the moment
