    Hi there,

I'm thinking about picking up a cheap but decent surround sound system for my dad. He's not a huge audiofile or anything, so audio quality doesn't have to be incredible. Looking for 5.1 system recommendations. By budget is between €300 - €400, but closer to €300 ;)

    Thanks!
    Rob

    Rob,

thx for the opportunity to quote - it's a no brainer really - it has to be separates - you can start off with the Yamaha YHT196 which is a proper receiver with 5.1 speakers including subwoofer - all for £179.95 / €229.99

    http://www.richersounds.com/product/1-box-home-cinema-systems/yamaha/yht196/yama-yht196

    showimage.php?image=309201.jpg&max_width=300&max_height=260

However if you can stretch the budget - we would HIGHLY recommend the Onkyo HTS3505 at £349.95 / €429.99 - its a serious quality unit and it's really worth the difference - again havce a look at the specs here:

Thanks again and keep us posted if we can assist in any way,

    Hi John,

I'm interested in the Onkyo that you have listed above. What would be the next level up from this.

I also like the look of the Onkyo TXNR515 and the Boston Acoustics Soundware XS SE Speaker Package. What the difference between these and the package you menntion in your previous post.

You had an offer on audio monitor speakers are they still available and have you a link?

Any other deals or suggestion greatly appreciated.

I'm looking to sort 2 rooms

    Regards

    Kevin

    Kevin,

The 515 with the Bostons is an excellent combo and the 515 is a significant step up on the AVR included with the HTS3505 combo and at the package price of £549.95 it really cannot be beaten for value!

Have a look at the combo package here:
    http://www.richersounds.com/package/system-savers/home-cinema-system-deals/pah01525

If you wanted to upgrade the system then the Monitor Audio pack I'm guessing you are refering to is the Vector AV10 5.1 pack - these have larger speakers than the Boston XS pack - which of course makes for better bass response and the Sub is also significantly better - at just £579.95 its an extra £30 but you will really notice the difference in Audio quality the 1st time you turn the Vector system on - to be fair the Vector pack was originally £600 so it should be good!

Have a look at the kit here: http://www.monitoraudio.co.uk/products/vector/

Keep us posted if you need any other info or of course if we can assist in any way,

    Kevin,

no problems with the questions - that's what we are here for!

To be fair the DM39 works with a really broad range of speakers however my current faves are as follows:

    Budget:
    DM39 / Acoustic Energy Compact One £279.95
    http://www.richersounds.com/package/system-savers/mini-hifi-system-deals/pah01880

or DM39 / Cambridge S30 £279.95 (these speakers look great!)
    http://www.richersounds.com/package/system-savers/mini-hifi-system-deals/pah01881

    Mid Range
    DM39 / Monitor Audio BX1 £329.95
    http://www.whathifi.com/review/monitor-audio-bronze-bx1
(Thats a review of the BX1 tested at £200!)

    Top-end
    DM39 / Monitor Audio BX2 £399.95
Sounds completely amazing - this combo just works!
    http://www.richersounds.com/package/system-savers/mini-hifi-system-deals/pah01780

Hope that selection does not completely confuse you - but if there are any other combos you would like priced just drop me a line or of course if there are any other questions - fire ahead!
    Thanks again,

    John Mc & Crew

    Hi John,

Thank you very much for your recommendations! They look like great sets. I'm really interested in the Onkyos, shame they're just slightly over budget :(

How much is delivery to southern Ireland?

    Thanks,
    Rob

    Rob,

No problem if the Onkyo is over budget - how about this:

    Pioneer VSX322 receiver £169.95 / €219.99: http://www.richersounds.com/product/av-receivers/pioneer/vsx322/pion-vsx322-blk

    Pioneer SHS100 5.1 Speaker System £99.95 / €124.99: http://www.richersounds.com/product/speaker-packages/pioneer/s-hs100/pion-shs100

    Total = £269.90 / €344.98

If you wanted a few essential accessories we would do the following:

    Cambridge 300 HDMI 1.5M HDMI Cable (£19.95 / €24.99)
    Cambridge Symphony 100 Speaker cable * 30 Mtrs (£29.70 / €36.99)
    Total = £47.85 / €61.98
I can do a special on this if bought with an AV Receiver at just £29.95 / €36.99

Delivery is £12.95 for the total system and we have it all available from stock and delivery would be about 2 working days (ie if you ordered it today – you should have it for the weekend,

Thanks again and keep me posted if we can assist,

    Hey John,

Seasons greetings, I'm sure you are nicely busy!
Like Rob I too am looking for a surround package for my step father but has an even smaller budget of €200 to €300 (you'll be glad to know I'm trying to convince him to spend more, but I think €300 is the upper end!).
The Yamaha package yht196 looks like the obvious choice but just wondering if you had any other options (usual good deals) closer to the €300 mark. Also I guess I should figure in the shipping (is it @ €12)?
    Thanks as always,
    Hugh.

    Hi John,

Just looking at the main richer site and saw this and was wondering if it was available:
    http://www.richersounds.com/product/1-box-home-cinema-systems/lg/sr906/lg-sr906

Also if you had any opinion on it please. One thing that will work is the really low profile of it compared to other av receivers.
He's no audiophile and anything is going to be better than the system he has now..
    Cheers John,
    Hugh.

    Hugh,

thx for the post and we are currently out of stock of the SR906 as supply is always sporadic on this - however it is an ongoing line and I hope to get a small delivery before Christmas - but it will be tight!

Keep me posted if you're not in a mad rush..

    thanks again,

...Ah just spotted your earlier post - the YHT196 is a FAR better option than the SR906 - proper separates - and at £179.95 it's cheaper to boot!

Shipping is £12.95 and in euro the total would be €244.17.. why under budget!

    Hi John,

Thanks for the reply. Id say he'd like to have something before Christmas, is there anything else in the range that you would recommend or have in stock?
Also John I forgot to ask but do you stock any 3d glasses? They are 3d active glasses, model SSG-4100GB for a Samsung 3d tv.
    Cheers John,
    Hugh.

I was also looking at the 515/616. How do hey compare with above?

    Thanks kevin

    Apel,

apologies for the delay getting back to you..

The Onkyo TXNR515 with the Boston XS5.1 SE pack has dropped in price to £519.95 - which really is a cracking price..

If you wanted to go for the TXNR515 with the Monitor Audio Vector pack then the price would be £529.95 and if you wanted a set I'd get your skates on as the Vectors are getting tight stock wise..

Apologies again for the delay getting back to you and please drop me a PM or a mail to sales@richersounds.ie if you would like anything reserved.
