    Hi

I am looking for a recommendation for a stand-alone (NON GPS) HRM if anyone can help. I have an age-ing Garmin 405 for everything else.

Ideally i am looking for something that is accurate, robust and comfortable - and doesn't suffer from garminesque spikes...Doesn't need to sync with a computer as i can do that bit manually.

    thanks

    Simon

As long as it has Polar in the name you cant go wrong.
I have been using the rs400 for about 5 years with no problems, save for batteries when required, they are simple to replace yourself.
There are cheaper Polar models out there as well depending on your budget.
But i personally would not go passed them for HR

    +1 on Polar

Hard to beat a FT1 for simple HR information. If you want to store multiple files an FT4 will be sufficient for the job.
