    Hi,

I'm looking to draw down mortgage in coming weeks, have been informed that 14th dec is the last day that BOI will issue cheques, mortgages will not be processed after that date.

Obviously looking to get the mortgage interest relief, however, my perception now is that bank is calling shots on this now, if the relief is available until dec31st, why should the bank stop processing mortgages so early???

This is quite a worry, can you please explain?

This is the situation every year, there is usually a cut off date mid month with all banks for cheque requests to be in, most will continue to issue cheques up to end of month but no guarantees they will be issued in time unless in before cut off date.

    Hi cabbage patch kid,

As phormium suggested, we recommend that mortgage cheques are issued from Bank of Ireland Mortgages by December 14th to ensure that you can meet the 31st December deadline. Any cheque issued after this date may not be cleared in time to allow you to avail of interest relief. Please ensure that you have all mortgage documentation in with us before this date to allow for processing.

    Thanks for getting in touch,
    Graham
