    Hi all,

The proposed timetable for Train services to/from Heuston is now available for consultation at the following link:
    http://www.irishrail.ie/cat_news.jsp?i=4732&p=116&n=237

Major changes to Heuston and regional routes include
    - Journey time improvements: faster journey times on all Intercity routes to and from Heuston averaging 10-15 minutes, but by up to 25 minutes in some cases.
    - Additional trains: additional trains are proposed for a number of routes and stations, including Dublin/Galway, Dublin/Westport, and a major increase in frequency for commuters between Dublin and Monasterevin, Portarlington and Portlaoise .
    - Service cancellations: while the vast majority of services are protected, some trains are proposed to be cancelled due to low demand. These include one train each way on Dublin/Waterford; a service from Limerick via Nenagh to Dublin; one Ballybrophy to Limerick via Nenagh service each way; one Limerick to Galway train each way; one Limerick Junction to Waterford service each way; an afternoon Dublin to Limerick service; and a small number of off-peak commuter services
    - Improved connections: there will be improved connections between Galway and Cork/Kerry with the extension of some Galway to Limerick trains to Limerick Junction
    - Departure time changes: while all departure times should be checked, major changes include the change to most departure times from Cork to Dublin to 20 past the hour, and a number of changes on Galway and Westport routes

Overall there is no major changes to the Mallow - Tralee service with the same number of services being provided, but departing at different times.

    Some changes of note are:

    - a slight reduction in journey times due to maximum line speed increases on the Dublin - Cork railway line.

    - The current 0510 Tralee - Cork (providing a connection into the 0615 Cork - Heuston arr. 0845) is deferred to depart at 0555 and connect into the 0700 Cork - Heuston (current 0730) arr 0930.
The current 0615 departure from Cork is being advanced to 0600 and therefore it would mean a 0455 departure from Tralee. It is felt that is too early to be attractive.

    - On Sundays the 1115 Tralee - Cork is cancelled and will be replaced by a new 1150 Tralee - Heuston service, thus offering three direct trains from Tralee to Dublin on Sundays.

See the link above to view the proposed timetable.

    The Wanderer.
