Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Money can't buy you love and it also can't buy European success

So over the last two days we've seen Chelsea, Zenit and Mac City knocked out of the Champions League after spending huge aounts over the past couple of years.

While clubs who spend relatively little like Celtic, Galatasaray and Schalke have progressed to the next round.

Why have the likes of City failed so abjectly in Europe this season? They failed to win a game in their group and for the second successive season they have been eliminated at the group stage of the champions league. Without the prospect of Europa League their co-efficent will stagnate and their prospect of qualification from the group stage next year look remote.

What can City and Zenit in particular do to qualify next year. Remove Mancini perhaps?

In fairness to city they have been in nightmare groups, but it shows the right attitude and hard work you can succeed.

I wouldn't put Celtic in the same category as Schalke and Galatasary when it comes to spending. Galatasary have spent a fortune the last few years.

Also Roman Abramovich and Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan are fairly well loved. I don't see any 'Roman' out signs despite the fact he's the man that sacked Di Matteo and employed Rafa. Could be put down to fear that he'd leave, but I'm an optimist

Borussia Dortmund have around 1/3 of the budget, Man City has...who topped the group? Who is out? :D

Thumbs up for the attempted cleverness in the sensationalist title, thumbs down for the fact that Chelsea are the tournament's most recent winners.

When continually calling people out for their previous posts OP, you probably shouldn't talk shite yourself :o

Borussia Dortmund's team in the mid-90s to early 2000's was expensive and the team almost went bankrupt. Dortmund won 1997 Champions League and three Bundesliga titles in 1996, 1997 and 2002 (reach UEFA Cup final as well). Real Madrid's 2002 team was expensive with Zidane and Figo being bought for over 40 million pounds each.

It seems money can buy you European success for years now.

One: I am not your friend.

Two: I told you that an hour with Amiable is €80 so stop trying to haggle the price.
