I'm going to Galway at the weekend and am hoping to get a walk in. Is there any where close by and accessible by public transport?

OP do you know Galway at all? The walkers' link has some great ones, but you might need to look some up on a map. Depending on how long you want to do, you can always get a citylink out to a number of points toward Connemara (Oughterard, Clifden etc) and get an afternoon/evening bus back. Lovely walks out by Oughterard and the lake.
Bus Eireann also cover some of the same routes.

get the bus to Maam Cross, walk or hitch up the road towards Maam (R336), after the lake on the right head towards the hill facing you (there's no name for it on the OS maps, coords 98482 249306) - there's lovely views from the top, then walk down the obvious ridgeline to the NW which'll bring you back to the Maam Cross - Maam road where you can walk / hitch back down to Maam Cross for the bus.

    🌦️ 6.7kwp, 45°, SSW, mid-Galway 🌦️

Ahh, you do know it rains a lot here? And is forecast to be really cold over the weekend?

Sure half the craic is the cuppa tea by a fire in a pub at the end of it! ;)

Preferably in Joe Keanes in Maam with a very, very delicious cheese toasty!
