yes they are but why did you choose a 8350 over an i5?
8350's a terrible value for money so i would never recommend them and the ivy-bridge i5's out perform them in just about everything

the 8350 isnt all that bad, but it need to be a bit cheaper. :/

that's why i either recommend a 8320 or an i5, the 8350's price is to close to the i5's to justify buying it when you can get a 2500k for an extra €15 or a 3570k for an extra €20 odd

my budget is around the 800 euro mark...
i went for the amd processor because it was cheaper than intel...
    here is my pc build

    AMD FX-8350 Prozessor, Boxed, Sockel AM3+ - 183.83euro
    ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0, AM3+, ATX - 154.31euro
    16GB-Kit G.Skill Ares PC3-14900U CL10-11-10-30 - 73.46euro
    Antec Sonata IV, ATX, 620W-Netzteil - 129.99euro
ASUS EAH6570/DI/1GD3(LP), AMD Radeon HD 6570, 1GB, PCI- Express -55eur
Samsung SSD 830 256GB SATA III Basic -169.99euro
    LG GH24NS bare schwarz -18.38euro

    Total 784.96EURO

i will be using the pc for hosting some virtual guests..such as windows 2008,windows 7..linux...for mainly exams purposes...
is the 620watt too much or would a standard 500watt be ok?

500w is fine it would even be okay with a 450w psu and still have plenty of head room for upgrades, if i was you i would go for a 8320 tho, it's just much better value for money and can overclock the same as a 8350 and maybe a cheaper 990fx board the sabertooth is nice and all but i dunno if it's worth the price

the reason i am going for a more expensive motherboard is because i want this pc to last for a few years..as i pssobily want to upgrade the processor in 2 years time or so....

The reason to buy an expensive motherboard is because you want to make use of some of the extra features it has. It does not help to future proof.
If that socket is still in use in 2 years time then a cheaper motherboard with the same chipset will be able to take the newer cpu.

i won't be doing any gaming on the pc so i won't be overclocking...basically i want a pc that won't be crawling when i am running virtual machines etc;..

my budget is around the 800euro mark...
so what motherboard/processor/memory would you recommend then?

There is no difference in that regard to motherboards, all am3 have the same cpu upgrade possibilities. It's all about whether you need its features (overclocking/sata ports/multiple graphics cards)

the sata ports could come in handy..i don't need the overclocking and the multiple graphics cards!

i would advise to go with a 970 board instead, they support pile-driver cpus and plenty of sata ports

    what's the difference between a 970 and a 990 board?

I think its SLI support (multiple nvidia graphics cards) and a few other features you probably don't need.
