And for the benefit of the English speaking amongst us ?

    google translate is telling me

Hvor mye snø er 1 millimeter regn? = How much snow is one millimeter of rain?

the answer, according to the article, is 1mm rain = 1cm snow

And for the benefit of the English speaking amongst us ?

A straight forward translation for the people how are too laszy to do it themselves.
    Snow crystals are

Snow is precipitation in the form of hexagonal crystals. Temperature and humidity in the atmosphere affect how these crystals formed and behaves.

At temperatures above zero degrees snow is often wet, the crystals turn into larger flakes and we get heavy snow.

Here we have fewer centimeters because the snow is heavy and sinks. But if we are going out to shovel snow, this is usually the heaviest and most strenuous snow shoveling.

At lower temperatures the crystals more sharp and this helps to keep the snowflakes from each other. This allows the snow to be lighter, but can take up more space.

    Nothing we didn't know already.

zilch snow. Looking at the charts and that nasty low pressure in the mid Atlantic hanging around like a bad smell, it'll be a very wet 5 days from Thursday onwards. Possibly windy as well in the south west air flow.

But it could change again, not likely but if these last few years have been any thing to go by, every thing can change weather wise within 4-5 days

Well latest ECM is interesting. Would not write off a snowy breakdown yet.

There is a ~30% chance of a lp sliding into France and keeping us on the cold side up until the weekend with some snow!

    Keep the faith.

I would rate our chances Matty as .3% tbh
We are a million miles away from snow this week.
Temps as I speak across the country are quite readily between 6 and 9 C
And tonight was meant to be our coldest night!

Chances of snow Thursday-Friday appear to range from zero in southwest to about 70% in Ulster, and in between it will be a question of elevation in most cases, only on higher slopes in south, down to higher suburban areas around Dublin perhaps, on hills in Connacht ... the situation is marginal but the models keep hinting at a slow breakdown that might allow just enough cold air to stay around for the precip to arrive. However, whatever does fall will likely melt on Saturday.
