I'm a little bit wary of what will be on the dlc after the standard of the bosses in the game. I think I'll either wait to hear about it or just wait for a sale on psn.
Feeling the same - didn't buy a Season Pass for this reason. Won't be buying it straight away, want to hear people's opinions. If it's not that great I won't lose sleep - Dark Souls 2 hasn't exactly got me excited about doing a new playthrough.

I'm also wondering if it will have achievements, artorias of the abyss didn't not essential but would be nice for the lovely folks who enjoy such things, ehhhemm not me of course :o

I wouldn't say it is, if we follow the Dark Souls 1 'Light' ending as canon (which is the correct canon as far as Dark Souls 2 seems to go), then
you sacrificed yourself to re-light & give strength to the first flame which in turn ceased the curse of the undead (for now) and ushered in a new era. From this new era, Drangleic was built and founded, possibly on top of Anor londo or another area in Lordran.

If anything, if you read the description of the sublime bone dust,
the ashes from the sublime bone dust are most likely your ashes as the player in Dark Souls 1 from sacrificing yourself at the kiln and you give strength to the Estus when you burn it.

The whole point of the story for Dark Souls 2 is:
The cycle keeps continuing. I.E The flame keeps getting weaker after so many years which begins the curse of the undead again and someone (again) needs to sacrifice for the greater good of keeping the fire alive. Only in Dark Souls 2 we didn't have a choice to sacrifice ourselves to the flame or succumb to the dark, you basically had to think if you did or not, whereas in Dark Souls 1 we could physically make that choice and a different ending depending on that choice

Ill have to read a few lore videos but
Vendricks's secretary or councillor or whatever, did mention that Vendrick had lit a flame or some such years ago.

How long has Vendrick been dead exactly?

It is disappointing how little there is to link the two games, even for a Dark Souls game.

They've released what you have to do in order to access the first DLC: http://ie.ign.com/wikis/dark-souls-2/Crown_of_the_Sunken_King

Ok thats 15 -20 minutes max from the start of NG+ or NG++ and not the worst boss in the game to have to go through.

I presume you could just warp there from Majula too if you haven't already reset everything.

The Rotten? I hate him the most over the other 3!

The Rotten is a sweet boss, I assume if you've completed the game you can just use that character and continue on? The return of my Sun Bro shall be sweet :D

I have the rotten bonfire at NG+++++++ level as I used him to get Lucietel's achievement. He's very easy on first play through but as the levels get higher it's basically one mistake and you're dead.

Haven't played this since clearing it. Never started NG+ so will be warping straight to Gulch and lashing into the DLC as a puny NG player. Not looking forward to the poison statues and I take it that there will be swampy terrain, JOY!

    4 trophies leaked
    The Narrow Way [Bronze]
    Traverse the path most treacherous

    The True Vagabond [Silver]
    Inherit Pharros the Vagabond's equipment

    The King Beneath [Silver]
    Defeat the Tiny King

    Sunken King's Crown [Gold]
Acquire the Crown of the Sunken King

Will be very interesting to meet
    Pharros

Faaaaaaaaaaaaaaack. Why did i uncover that very last spoiler! I'm such a dope

Also, are season passes available all the time? Or do i have to buy it before the DLC is released?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,031 ✭✭✭Cravez

Available all the time I imagine, same as any Season Pass for other games.

Interesting trophies for the DLC. That said, I do wonder if that's all for this episode of the DLC, or is there more we haven't heard of.

I'd imagine that's for the whole thing going by the name of the last one? Who know's though.

I'd say that's it, each episode will have 4 trophies. Anyone know how much the 1st episode will be?

Think it was mentioned 9.99 or 19.99 for the season pass.

    Season pass is €24.99.
    Don't know individual pricing.

    Ouch.

    Artorias was only 15e...

I really dunno if I'm gonna go for the season pass. Thought the bosses and level design were fairly weak compares to Demons Souls and Dark Souls, I might just go back and play them.

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,842 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Devs said the 3 episodes together will be about 1.5 times bigger than Artorias. Hmm might wait for a review to see if the 1st ep is worth a tenner or just go for the season pass.

i will just buy the full pass I think, for the amount of hours I get/got out of it. I had blindly bought the full battlefield 4 game and pass and never use it, at least i will use this !!

I guess Bamco know they can still get away with it after the success of DS1...

Artorias was only one dlc, there are three for DS II.

They're just splitting it into 3 to milk gamers, let's face it.

If the new content is enough to warrant enough quality playtime, i'll happily pay the price for DLC. My only gripe with DLC in general is when they charge top dollar for sub par content.

IF From Software do have plans to release further DLC, I better hope the pass covers those too. Otherwise then they are taking the metaphorical mickey.

Each dlc is bigger than Artorias.
No one is getting milked - you don't have to buy it.

    I won't be.

I was under the impression the three of them together were bigger than Artorias. I'm not feeling the greatest confidence that it'll be as good. Also think the idea of paying nearly what I paid for the full game, for the sake of a new area/boss is a little OTT. Having a 'Season Pass' for a Souls game? It just stinks of commercialism...
