Gutted to hear the news, I had really hoped you would make it into teaching.

In any case I guess the important thing is that the baby is well and needs to be provided for and it seems like from your blog that's the direction your headed. Best of luck with the college studies.

Thanks for the blog over the last few years. Very enjoyable.

Best of luck with your future.

Sorry to hear Damien ( hadn't spotted this earlier when I met you ,in case you thought I was being rude :) ) but best of luck with the studies.

    Hi guys,

Many thanks for the kind messages. The PGA just not meant to be for me as the expenses were just far too much. Definitely great path to follow if your younger but the jobs are getting thin on the ground due to the number of pros around.

No need to worry PARlance was posted about 5 mins before you popped in ;-)

    Hey all,

Just wanted to mention that I have brought my blog back from carbonite freezer storage as it's time for a new challenge. I had some great support from a number of forum members previously and encouragement from them to try to get it back up and running again. Cheers, Damien :)

Hey spacecoyote thanks for the reply. Goal is to get back to 4. Four years out with only a handful of games so lots to do!

Does this mean you can't teach I bet you have a lot to offer! My best lessons have been from scratch golfers not PGA pros (who at times have list interest in the game)

Best of luck Tin Cup - was an enjoyable read at the time.

To ask a few tough questions.

It seemed to come to a dramatic end all of a sudden - could be my poor memory there ?

Also - to go from such an intense process to little or no golf , did you fall out of love with the game and how do you feel about the game now.

I got to a fairly intense level myself and , you can easily get burnt out.

Best of Luck Tin Cup . . had the pleasure of playing with you before and I know you have worked your socks off with College and the new job, visiting clubs all around the country ! No doubt you will get back to the handicap with all that out of the way !

Hey Montgolfer, in fairness you could still definitely share your knowledge with others and I too have had some great help from low handicap players. There are some great coaches out there that are not PGA qualified. For me, however, at the time it was about trying to teach and eventually play on the Irish region circuit.

Hey Fixed, hope you're keeping well!

Yep, unfortunately, it did come to a sudden halt. I would rather not go fully into it as it's a long story but I found myself unable to cover the fees for the PGA myself.

This answer also relates to your second question. I had worked so hard for a number of years to be able to apply and then when I found it wasn't a workable option I got crazy frustrated and just put the clubs away to concentrate on college and family. I love the game and have continued to work in the industry non-stop since however (and this sounds a bit nuts) my heart just wasn't in playing at all so I just made myself busier with other things to compensate.

Finishing college this earlier this year gave me a few weeks to think about what I would like to do as a next challenge (I need to learn to sit still) and I kept coming back to golf and that I really felt it was time to come back to the game. I have some friends who are training and qualified Pro's so I have been able to link in with them over the past few weeks to get started again and realised how much I did miss it and that I have what feels like some unfinished business with the game.

While I was looking back through the blog when updating there were a lot of ups and downs and absolutely when you are living and breathing the process it is very easy to burn out. It just eats at you non-stop and you find yourself never switching off. I have definitely learnt a lot from the first attempt that I hope will help this time around with a more balanced approach.

Hey Irishdaywalker, thanks for the kind message, appreciate it. Nearly a year into the new role and it has been fantastic. Might need to start doing reviews of the practice facilities at each course if time allows in future :D
