Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

SKY use the same trick too.

In both cases all you can do is play the programs and use an external recorder to grab them off the SCART socket.

Might be a bit late for me, they are taking it back in few days

Anyone know a cheap, reasonable quality recorder? that would be plug and play?
It would have to be shop bought as I couldnt wait till something was delivered.

Damn I have some good stuff recorded on it.

The moral of the story is that a PVR is not something you should be using for material you want to keep and or remove. Using a recorder that uses removable media like a DVD-R is the thing to do here, but then you lose the EPG integration of course.

I thought I had more time

the account closed sooner than I expected, so I cant access stuff on the DVR box anymore.
I guess i should really have looked into this before now, the week its going.

    fyp

many of the generic FTA boxes will save in a transferrable format. This works well for SKY when you have a card with a subscription (and a suitable receiver) and don't mind loosing the EPG. I don't know if there is a suitable DVB-C receiver that you can use as a PVR with the UPC card, even if the terms and conditions allowed it, and again you'd probably loose the EPG.

Regardless - there are two types of storage device. There are those that have already failed and those that are going to. So if you want to keep something you need at least one backup copy.

I will probably come back and enquire about this when I have the Sky box, I just gave up on the UPC box and ordered sky, the UPC box and remote are so so crap it was annoying. I didn't give myself time to look into backing up the programmes I had.

I have device I place between the video cable that removes all protective rights and allows to record in to anything with a yellow red white connection lead.
