The Marquee is promoted by Aiken.

MCD promote Oxegen so there's no connection in announcements etc!!!

The first Phoenix Park gig was not confirmed until 20th Dec last year so still time!!

Marquee has become just a payday for ancient acts at this stage. No imagination at all for a few years.

Elton John LOVES the Marquee. His gig there last year was brilliant and he clearly enjoys it!

im buying 3 tickets for elton john at the marquee .1 is a wheelchair user and will be in wheelchair area .but can the other 2 abled bodied people join with them there???

Anyone know the different price categories for the Elton John gig ?
On the Ticketmaster site it just says "Ticket price 50-95 euro" but it gives no indication of which price is for which area or even standing/seating.

People like to see bands with a large back catalogue .
If I am paying 80-100 euro for a gig I want 2-2.5 hours of hits .
Nobody is going to pay that money for a band with only a few albums ,they would struggle to play 90 minutes.

Then don't charge 80-100 euro then  Do people only go to see bands that have had lots of albums??

Marquee has been this way for a while, getting artists who were a big name but mostly who aren't very active right now.

Seriously thinking of travelling down for the ZZ Top gig.

Reading reviews of their 2012 shows, it seems a 75min set is standard.

Very short but I think Im gonna go. In my 25 years of gig-going, they are one of the few bands Ive never seen that I'd like to.

As Ive never been there, what is the capacity of the marquee itself?

Judging by the seating chart on ticketmaster, it seems to be a vicar St type layout (although on a bigger scale).

Only standing and seated tickets (at the back of block B) left.
Although, theres probably not a bad seat in the house?

Id say capacity is around 5K .... and yeah , its a square set up like a big Vicar St however there are some pathetic seats. First 2 rows in each block are pretty pointless as you'll be lookig at the legs and arses of the people in the standing area.

    The Wanted - 16th June

Bought my ticket for ZZ Top and have started to invest in their back catalogue.

Picked up 5 of their albums in an "original album series" bundle for €17, bargain!

(Rio Grande Mud, Tre Hombres, Fandango, Deguello and Eliminator)

On another note, Is there usually a barrier system/pit in the Marquee?

There was no division between the pit and the rest of the crowd when I was there for Megadeth a few years ago. I can only assume that it's the same for everything.

Would Live at the Marquee be classified as a festival? Not too sure........

Thanks Mushy, I think I will, don't wanna get into a situation where I'm shoe horning everything in, but I think the public interest in this just about makes it a reasonable one to add.
