I don't like it, its too light for me. I prefer a darker tan. This tan made little to no difference to my colouring.

I was using St Topaz, love it.
However it doesn't come cheap so was looking for an alternative.

Bought the Coca Brown tan on Friday, put a coat on that night - went on well, no smell and could notice a huge diff color wise.

showered the next day and the color went slightly so put another
coat on before I went out sat night and I was very pleased with the results - dark & natural looking tan, no streaks, no smell and actually had a few people ask what tan it was
    cause it looked natural :P

I put a bit of body shimmer over it to give it that extra glow, I do this with all the tan I use :)

Monday now and I still have a nice glow :) over all very happy with the product. Can't go wrong for €8. Bargain!

Just to add I'm very pale!

I bought this after reading lots of good reviews on here. I've worn it a few times and each time, I've had to leave it on all night for two nights prior to the occasion (having a shower both mornings after obviously!). Even so, it still comes out looking a little lighter than I'd usually wear my tan, but I imagine it's good for those who like a very natural colour. It does go on easily, and it comes off nicely (not too patchily) once you keep your skin moisturised, but I don't think I'll be buying another bottle after this one. Oh and it doesn't smell when you initially put it on, but if you leave it on all night you definitely wake up with that delightful fake tan smell stuck to your sheets in the morning!!

SunnyDub1 if you like St Tropez, have you tried St Moriz from Penneys?

i put it on and my boyfriend said I still smelt of fake tan! I was raging :(

Gonna try it again today and hope for the best this time!

Yeah have tried that one before. I found it didn't take to my skin great, looked like tan mixed with balck coal :o and smelled awful.

I just washed mine off there.. It is a very faint tan isn't it? I was pale prior to it but now i'm just less pale :P

How long did you leave it on for?

I find it's grand once I leave it on for 3hours.

Barely notice anything after an hour.

TBH I can't see how any tan can come up after an hr, even if it is advertised as a "one hour tan"
If you are looking for a dark glow, apply a good amount and leave it on over night if you can.

Both times I used it I left it on over night, showered the next morning and it turned out well. It does wash off slightly but still leaves a nice tan.

I find it leaves a great tan after 3 hrs, keeps developing on me anyway even after I wash it off. I'm surprised as a lot of tans don't come out on me e.g Xen Tan which was very expensive

I see a lot of people commenting this tan is too light. Don't be afraid to put plenty of this tan on. I apply mine after a shower in the evening. It is fully developed after three hours, but I leave mine on overnight. If there are no streaks the next morning (usually not) I don't bother showering the tan off at all. I don't see the point in putting on tan if you are just going to shower it off. I am left with a lovely deep colour, yet it doesn't look unnatural on me. I love this tan so much!

You see this is the problem I have with tan. The guide colour is not the result of the tan. I agree the guide colour is exactly what I want, however I refuse to go out and have my clothes destroyed and have drip marks everywhere (spillages :-) ) the tan should do what it says on the tin and the guide colour that washes off is not it.

Sorry rant over, I'm desperate for a good tan and I really really wanted this to be it. But I'm not into "subtle glow"

Yeah but the tan won't transfer to your clothes if you don't wash it off. It's water based so your skin will have absorbed it. Many tans that are oil based sit on your skin and yes destroy your clothes.

Trust me on this one. I've been wearing it this way since I got it a few months ago. Give it another go and let us know how you get on!

If you sweat in any way the tan does transfer. When I wear it to bed with loose pyjamas, there are often marks on my pyjamas and my sheets when I wake up. Also it has that horrible fake tan smell after a few hours, there's no way I'd go out like that!

This doesn't make any sense I'm afraid. It won't transfer if I don't wash it off? Nonsense. It wouldn't wash off if that was the case. The colour underneath doesn't transfer, or does so minimally. But no way should you have to wear the guide colour as your tan, it smells, it will have droplet marks from rain, drink spillages, and not to mention handwashing. You might as well wear instant tan.

I agree about it being the perfect colour, it's beautiful before it washes down the sink. I think that is a failure for a wear off tan if you ask me. If she developed a much darker colour I'd use it again because it has a great initial smell and consistency. But it doesn't work. The new night and day version is basically the same tan, but going out with the guide colour on.

Excuse my irritation I've just had an ingrown toenail seen to and I'm in pain :-)

Well I'm only going by my own experience. That is the way I wear this tan and it doesn't smell or have any water marks. Well just have to agree to disagree!:D

I just bought karora I'm going to chance it, but if I don't like that either I may just have to bite the bullet and follow your advice with the guide colour. I'm holding you responsible for my whites :-)

The Karora is good love the gradual tan ! And it comes in dark

I just put on karora, it's a mist so I'm petrified. I'm used to lotions and mousses. It has a nice smell but not as nice as cocoa brown smell. I've put on the dark mist so this could fail spectacularly :-)

What is it with Irish people and the horrible body paint?

Saw a lovely redhead on the Late Late Show a few weeks ago and something she said made a lot of sense. She said that she would like to power-hose the nation to get rid of all the fake tan.

So you felt a need to comment on a thread reviewing fake tan? It isn't a thread "for or against". I'm sure the girl on the late late was fabulous hence the model title, unfortunately my decomposed look does not an outfit make. My fair skin is not flattering. If I could get my skin to look like nicola Roberts skin I could embrace that. But it seems to be a big secret how she suddenly went from freckle fest to a beautiful alabaster- which by the way is also fake.

Please stay on topic. This is thread is not a discussion on whether or not you like fake tan.

    Helpful replies for OP, please.

I bit the bullet and used this yesterday:

I left it on for about an hour and ten minutes, pic on the left is before, and the right is this morning (aparently it continues to develop after washing?).

Came up a little darker than the photo shows, it's nothing mad, but i'm really happy with it. I'd feel quite content to wander outside in a dress if the weather was nice enough!

Update: i forgot to take photo's, I've a few teething problems with karora, but that's down to my lack of experience with mists/liquids. I have a little patchiness on my hands and I obviously slept with my arm bent so I have crease lines, hoping these fade after the shower. Now the colour looks great now fingers crossed it doesn't wash away.

I know this is a cocoa brown thread, I think I'll buy another bottle and follow the advice about not showering when I finish this bottle (it's only a small one so I won't get many full applications).

I used to love loreal sublime (not the gel the other one) it used to only come in one colour but it really really worked. When they changed the formula it completely changed so that was my golden goose gone, that was a few years ago and nothing has matched it since.

I'm losing my Cocoa Brown virginity at the moment :)

I'm going to be showering in the morning (I am silly pale so not the end of the world if I go a bit browner!), I plan to shave my legs then too - is it affected by shaving?

You may find the tan goes patchy and dry after shaving, particularly along the shins. I've experienced that before with lots of tan brands when shaving. If you can, waxing is so much better but it's preferable to wait 24 hrs after waxing to tan so may not suit if time is a factor.

Forgot to add - I applied this again last night and was a bit more generous in the application. I was a lovely brown colour for 3 hours before I showered it off and then just barely had a slight tint. This morning though I'm lovely and golden with a prefect even tan. Think this is how I will go about applying it in future.

Anyone else with sensitive skin/eczema that has tried this? What is it like for your skin? Anyone get rashes from it? I am allergic to Fake Bake, St Mortiz and Xen Tan for a start... :( I use Lancome Flash Bronzer as that doesn't aggravate it but always looking for cheaper options.

I go through phases of having really sensitive skin and developing patches of eczema (had it as a child but for some reason it comes back every so often). I recently had a really bad dry itchy patch of skin on my leg that every other tan kept sticking to, but it actually cleared up when I started using this! I find it really moisturising. I dunno if it would be the same for you but that's my experience!

I've come to the end of my first bottle of this tan now. I will definately be repurchasing. I always leave it on overnight, I would have to leave it on for 3 hours minimum for a colour to develop. Lovely, natural colour.

Love this tan. I applied a second coat and it looks great, really natural and even - was even asked in work today had I been away over the Bank Holiday! :)
