The rapper joins the first acts confirmed who are Alt-J, Deftones, Sub Focus, and Boy Better Know. There are no other acts confirmed yet for 2013, expect a line-up that will still include big names from the rock, alternative, indie, punk and metal scenes.

Does this festival share a similar line-up with any Irish festival like Oxegen/T in the Park?

Not a similar line up as such but Electric Picnic would get some of the acts playing at it recently one of the headliners at Reading/Leeds would headline EP too.Pulp in 11 and The Cure last year.Potentially acts at R&L could do their own outdoor gig in Belfast as was the case this year (Paramore/Foo Fighters)

    Pulp didn't headline Reading.

And yeah this does share a lot of acts with Titp really, although not headliners.

    Pulp co-headlined with the strokes

Ya twas co-headline the poster might've suggested that Pulp were subs like the others on the other days when in actual fact Pulp closed the Leeds festival with the Strokes subbing and reversed roles at reading don't know if this happened at any other R&L though.

leeds/reading is nothing like ep, or titp, tho this eminem business makes me think maybe its going that way, last few years they are getting very poppy... :-(

With the exception of the lock-up stage and a lot of the small indy stuff on the BBC stage, it is really.

What has EP to do with Reading and Leeds?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,354 ✭✭✭nocoverart

It has absolutely nothing to do with EP. It was hinted on this thread that they're similar, hence my comment.

We've just confirmed the incredible Biffy Clyro as Main Stage 2013 headliners and now we can reveal the awesome System Of A Down, Fall Out Boy, Foals, Jake Bugg and Bring Me The Horizon will also join the 2013 line-up!

One of the most successful alt-rock bands of all time, System Of A Down make a welcome return to Reading. The band have only played a handful of gigs since they reformed in 2010, but they are back in the UK to play the Main Stage at the 2013 Festival, which is sure to be a highlight of the weekend.

Reading is excited to announce that recently reformed festival favourites Fall Out Boy will take to the Main Stage in a UK festival exclusive performance. Their live shows are always anarchic and tend to include a few irreverent turns. Their performance at the Festival this summer will feature songs from across the band’s entire career and will be unmissable.

Foals have played Reading Festival three times before, working their way up from the smallest tent, to this year taking their rightful place on the Main Stage. Recently nominated for ‘Best Track’ (‘Inhaler’) and ‘Best Live Band’ at the NME Awards, their Reading performance will be one to watch.

Since 2012 Jake Bugg has scored a Number One album with his self-titled debut, received nominations for ‘Best Album’ and ‘Best Solo Artist’ at the forthcoming NME Awards and is shortlisted for ‘British Breakthrough Act’ at the BRITs. Catch him on the NME/Radio 1 Stage at Reading this year.

British metalcore dons Bring Me The Horizon have been destroying huge crowds for almost a decade. The band’s shows on the Main Stage at Reading Festival will crown a year in which they went stratospheric, as well as give fans a chance to hear new material from their highly anticipated forthcoming album ‘Sempiternal’.

All these acts added to the already announced headliner, Eminem and Deftones, Alt-J, Sub Focus and Boy Better Know (ft. Wiley, Skepta and JME) there is NO WHERE else you want to be on the August Bank Holiday! Get your tickets TODAY.

    Shocked that SOAD are subbing

Can't believe System of a down are playing but not headlining. Awesome stuff. Would love to see Foals again and wouldn't mind seeing BMTH with the new album out.

    Tempted now.

SOAD havent done anything in an age though, although it must be a huge band to headline over them. Rumours around of Sabbath.

Yeah wouldn't be surprised if it was Sabbath. I dunno SOAD just seemed like a band that would never sub at a festival again they headlined everywhere they played a couple of years ago. All the better that they're not. Means you get another headliner and 60/70 mins is definitely enough time for SOAD.

  • Registered Users Posts: 21,384 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

Ah but they had the reunion thing then. Will be fun to see who the headliner is next month.

Is Skrillex headlining the second stage on Friday as well?

That announcement was pretty okay. I was actually more excited about maybe going again this year before that announcement. That 3rd stage on the Sunday night is gonna be absolutely wedged for Knife Party and the Friday main stage is class.
