I like most think Die Hard 1 is a aboslute classic, then followed by Vengeance and then two for me.

But all three were/are great action films, four on the other hand would make an okay very average modern day action film but no where near the same level, its just not a Die Hard in anyway, terrible villain, Justin Long whinging, trying to be all modern by making it all about computers fcuk that, and the one thing that grated me the most a toned down John McClane its just not right and it dont sit well at all. For that reason I have very low expectations for the fifth pg13 installment to drag in more audience.

Do a Die Hard properly make its 18's or dont do it at all.

Love the dynamic between Dwayne and Al on the outside.

"Jesus Christ Powell, he could be a fúcking Bar tender for all we know!"

My ultimate Christmas movie. Will be watching this on the 22nd of Dec in the sitting room in front of a roaring fire with a box of roses and bag of Tayto. Yippee Kay Yah!

Indeed, compare Vengeance with 4 they're like two different franchises, Vengeance is brutally violent in places, full of swearing, funny dialogue, it flies alone at a crazy pace and its a proper balls out action movie. 4 is none of these. Its safe, clean, toned down and dull.

Die Hard is my no1 Christmas film we watch it every year and always play insane trivia Qs:

Where is the the building project whose model impresses Gruber

    Indonesia

Name of guy who is told by FBI guys to shut down the power

    Walt

What's Gruber holding when he says "ladies and gentlemen" to get hostage attention at start

    filofax

You could go on and on......

    Floor terrorists are held on
Drink Ellis drinks just before he's shot
    Name of Karl's rifle
How old did mcclane think the twinky was
What does the badass terrorist eat as he's waiting for swat guys (aisan dude with cool moustache)
    Name all the terrorists
What van does Thornburg take from the news office
Name of book being promoted on newscast
Terrorist group gruber read about in time magazine

We play a similar game, but it's just people say a line from the film and the person has to say the line that comes directly after it.

I've snipped a bit out between these lines:

Hans: Touching, Cowboy, touching. Or should I call you Mr. McClane? Mr. Officer John McClane of the New York Police Department?
    ...
McClane: Sister Teresa called me Mr. McClane in the third grade. My friends call me John. You're neither, ****-head.

Also, I just love the bells when he sees the Christmas tape near the end.

I think the second one is far better than the third. Cheesy as it is, it didn't require a comedy sidekick like the third, or a fanboy sidekick like the fourth.
"You killed that helicopter with a car!"
"Yeah, I was out of bullets"

The best sequel is 3, with 2 being a close follow on (have to consider the year it was made for context).

However, 4, for me is an ok action movie, but shouldn't be considered a die hard, I would have preferred if they had made 16 Blocks into Die Hard 4, all it would have taken was a change of character name. The rest of it works perfectly.

And get rid of Mos Def, what an annoying voice he had for that.

    BOOM! 2 points!

Every minute of this is a classic. Must know it word for word at this stage :p

Die Hard 2 a worthy sequel. 3 was a Lethal Weapon script but entertaining because of the banter between Bruce and Samuel L. Simon was nowhere near as good as his brother though! Less said about 4 the better!

Ladies and Gentlemen... ... they are about to be taught a lesson in the real use of power (Ahh Hans - one of the best villains ever)
