Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Spent last 5 minutes confused how they were officially relegated then Sky just mentioned it's because Wigan and Villa still have to play each other. :o

Terrible game that, considering both teams could have technically stayed up with a win, neither looked like winning.

Interesting times ahead for QPR, they could go bust considering their wage bill.

That's the thing, if only to avoid being the first to drop you'd think there would be some professional pride on display. Then again Newcastle were completely lacking the same yesterday and they would still be dragged into the mire. No one seems to give a damn.

Looking increasingly likely the Villa vs Wigan game on the last game of the season will be the one to decide it.

Norwich, Sunderland and Newcastle still won't be breathing easy.

However, I think if Sunderland avoid defeat tomorrow that's probably enough for them.

Again, for Norwich, a draw at home against Villa might be enough as games are running out. A win and they're home and dry. Even then they have a handy home game against WBA after.

Newcastle will be looking at the away game to QPR as their best chance of picking something up. However they'll possibly be looking at other games more then anything and will be cheering on their neighbours Sunderland tomorrow. I've consistently ruled out Newcastle as relegation candidates, but they look the most likely of the 3 outsiders at the moment. They have to hope that Villa don't put together results in their massive relegation fixtures - if Villa do so they could be in trouble.

However, looking at the table and fixtures to come, it's not at all inconceivable that Sunderland, Norwich and Newcastle have already done enough.

I see a final day scenario where Wigan must beat Villa to stay up.

    Wigan favourites for me.

I'd fancy Wigan to beat Villa in a one-off game.

39 points should realistically easily be enough to stay up. Even 38 and a decent goal difference to be honest.

Assuming it goes to the final day and Villa/Wigan I'd really hate to be the ref!

I'd fancy them too (as they are at home), but I'd still put Villa/Draw as a more likely result, which in my hypothetical scenario would be enough for Villa.

Add to the fact that Villa have a greater chance of escaping this possible scenario due to their home game against Sunderland and away game to Norwich and I think you have to have Wigan as slight favourites.

Though I wouldn't at all be surprised if it played out as I predict and Wigan beat Villa on the final day to send them down.

Newcastle not in the original list might be a mistake, they are sinking like a stone. Villa need to win tomorrow night.

Not that it would happen, but it'd be interesting to see West Ham get a penalty late on to secure a draw or win for the home side against Newcastle and Carroll wanted to take it.

    *popcorn gif scenario*

Oh and a Shane Long goal has given the lead to WBA against Wigan. Hurray!

Wigan are going to take 3 points here.

    Wigan
Wigan loosing there game in hand 1-0, if they loose today they'd be 5 points off safety with 3 games left with a worse goal difference than Newcastle and Sunderland with Swansea and Villa both to play at home

    Edit: Now I see they're drawing! :)

Really need to advoid defeat here

4-2 to Reading, maybe they should have relaxed a few games earlier or have Fulham hit the beach?

Wigan still have a game in hand over Villa (play Swansea who are on holiday) and they play each other so not quite certain.

Delighted for them! That last game is going to be huge! 3 games left, they could very well take 6 points from them

Lose Monday night and we're gone, a draw might not even be good enough to be honest. No Sessegnon means we have no one to break Stoke down. The last time we won on a Monday night game in the top flight was 2002 as far as I can remember that was 18 attempts ago. It's not looking good.

Oh well, we've got two home games coming up so if we don't get the required points we don't deserve to stay up. I'm dreading Monday :(

Could have done with a Newcastle win and Wigan loss today. Means they're gonna have something to play for vs Arsenal. :(

The one positive thing for a Newcastle fan is that they couldnt have a better fixture next really than already relegated QPR

Villa are actually now up to 13th as it stands and ahead of Southampton after Bales goal

Still think Wigan will go down having left themselves too much to do too late one too many years esp with the cup final upcoming

Wigan's aim should be to try be within 3 points of Villa by the final day. That's all they need to give themselves a shot. If Sunderland win tomorrow and Wigan on Tuesday, all the teams on 40 will start ****ting themselves!

Given that there are 4 teams between Wigan and Villa, I think Wigan would prefer Villa to be safe and mentally on holiday going into the last game

But then it's not in their own hands. If they win they'd still go down.

Pie in the sky regardless, Wigan won't pick up more than a point in the next 2 games. They'll be down by the time they play Villa
