I'm new to the whole world of creating a website and i just got sorted with Joomla and got myself a template i'm happy with, thing is i can't for the life of me figure out getting images up for the front slideshow,

I have this information "You have to use an ftp software like Filezilla, or if you use cpanel on the server, then the file manager to upload the images. You have to upload them into the templates/a4joomla-landscape-free/images/sampledata directory. If you want only one image without slideshow, then upload your image into the templates/a4joomla-landscape-free/images directory, and choose that image in the parameters"

but i cant get my head around where to add a file of photos in the "remote site" side of filezilla. or how to access "templates/a4joomla-landscape-free/images/sampledata" directory

    any help greatly appreciated

Can't gauge your level of experience, so apologies if this seems Your "remote" window in Filezilla should show you your hosting folders. Inside one of them will be the folder you installed Joomla to. Most hosting providers give you FTP access to a top level of folders, one of which will be your website (and maybe others for stats, private storage, logs, and so on). So your website might be within a folder called "wwwroot", "public-html", "wwwdocs", and so on. Within that folder, you'll have your Joomla install. If you access your Joomla site via http://domain.com/myjoomla/, then look for the "myjoomla" folder within your website folder. Or if the Joomla install is at the top level of your site (http://domain.com/) then you should see "templates" directory within that "publichtml" (or whatever your hosting company provides) folder.

If in doubt, a quick email to your hosting company asking them for the path to your Joomla install might save you some time.

Try installing the exTplorer component. It will offer you the ability to browse like windows explorer. Easy upload etc.
