Unlock 02 iphone 3gs

I bought an iphone 3gs of someone on the o2 network however i am on vodafone so i need to unlock it. I tried requesting an unlock code from o2 and they said it would take up to 2 weeks but months later the phone was still never unlocked. How can i unlock it? PLEASE HELP

Have you got a text back saying it was unlocked ?
If so you need to connect it to iTunes with a different network Sim in it .
If not try the O2 reps on the biz talk to O2 forum .

You need to do a full restore to get it to unlock, if the request has gone through.

I always thought the same but others have claimed the unlock goes through syncing with a different sim in the phone

I never needed to. just put in a new sim and off it went.
