    Hey Guys,
I dropped my hard drive and have been told there's no rescue :( but I'm hoping they may be able to get the data off it so need a new one pretty fast. I've been trying to find an Iomega cheapish one online as it was an Iomega I had last and I loved it but I'm struggling to find one that's not mental expensive. I got my last 1TB for €129 as far as I remember so I'd hoped I'd find another one similar. Anyone any ideas where I should look? Or even suggestions on another brand that's just as good. The first one I had was awful but can't for the life of me remember what it was :(
    Cheers for reading/replying :):)

If its and external drive, why not just keep the enclosure and just replace the drive itself ?

I didn't know I could do that to be honest. I gave it to a friend to get it fixed so he just dropped it in and they said the hard drives gone but they might be able to get the data off it.

The old I Omega Screen Director is a pain in the hole. Did a bit of shopping around and the cheapest I could find was a Seagate 1TB in peats for 120 euros. Its upgradable and gonna use the I Omega for storage now.

Argos were doing a 2tb external drive for 100e. It was a seagate. It's also usb3.0.

    Pc world have one too.

You can get a 1, 2 or 3TB Seagate drive with Groupon at the moment for a very good price. Here's the link:
    https://www.groupon.ie/deals/national-deals/ASK-Electronics-Ltd/14573606/.qGUr13

I got the 3TB one from them a few weeks ago - €139, including delivery.

Most of their deals only last a couple of days though, so you'd probably have to be quick. I checked this morning and it was still active.

YOU could install it in a pc with a spare sata port, or use cables from a pc dvdrom drive, or buy a sata 3.5inch caddy, one that has its own power supply,
A sata caddy with usb cable alone will not provide enough power.
its likely the pcb, or cables inside are loose or broken,
did you open up the case .
IE THE hardrive itself is probably working ok.
a sata 3.5 is about 40 euro, in a shop ,alot cheaper on ebay if you can wait a few days for delivery.
any brand unit 3.5 inch sata will work,
    i,m presuming its sata type 3.5inch ,
you dont need to buy an iomega unit.

Thanks for all the replies. I don't have the harddrive now as I gave it to someone to get fixed. I had wanted to take it apart but when its something this important that has all my pictures and music and college work I couldn't risk taking it apart. Does anyone know anything about Seagate? They have a good few on Peats website but then I also saw this http://www.peats.com/cgi-bin/catalog_v2.cgi?id=29442&type=product and I've heard before that Western Digital are good? Or this http://www.peats.com/cgi-bin/catalog_v2.cgi?id=29809&type=product or http://www.peats.com/cgi-bin/catalog_v2.cgi?id=29373&type=product
