Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Rafa must be desperate - he's bring Marin on!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,398 ✭✭✭McDave

What's the point in putting Marin on now...

Chelsea as usual trying hard at the END!

Pathetic, Cahill compounds a shocking performance with a red card.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,086 ✭✭✭markc1184

    What did Cahill do?

We can't even beat a **** team like this , we be lucky to finish 10th in the

    What's with the no replays?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,443 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

Anyone else extremely pissed off at the lack of replays during the game? No replay of Torres' chance and now no replay of the red card incident.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,398 ✭✭✭McDave

Poor TV coverage. Would be nice to see some replays.

Full respect to Corinthians though. Too few Chelsea players were prepared to take the game by the scruff of the neck.

    Chelsea's transition continues.

    Who says they're *****?

    Ok to summarise.

    Chelsea need
    1. a new striker
    2. a new second striker
    3. a midfielder
    4. a defender
    5. a manager

....in january. Not too much to ask.

I'm watching on Spanish tv, there was a replay of Torres goal, was definitely offside but not by much.
    No replay of Cahill.

Torres should have taken the game to Extra Time

Fair play to them. Jan transfers cant come quick enough for us.

Danny must be off, otherwise we would have surely played him?

I won't say it's embarrassing. It's really down to our familiar failings this season. No power in midfield. No strikeforce. But also, there was no passion or real sense of effort. Corinthians worked hard and had commitment. They got their break. And took it!!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,707 ✭✭✭CR 7

There's no question about it now, chelsea are the worst CL winners in history. :D

Look on bright side Chelsea fans.

You still have the same amount of World Championships as Liverpool.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

Ridiculous, bloody ridiculous. The squad needs serious work, a striker who looks good against relegation fodder and Monterrey isn't good enough for a club with our ambitions. A midfield of Ramires and Lampard were very poor on the ball, never imposed themselves in a way a top midfield should. Moses should have been hooked off by half time. Cahill was dreadful, absolutely dreadful. Really disappointing, won the Champions League but the next year we're out at the group stage, lost the Supercup against Madrid and then lost the World Club Championship, you could strongly argue that the major difference between our Champions League victory and this season has been the contrast between Drogba and Torres, difference between night and day.

So... Corinthians are the best team in the world. Barca must be disgusted.

To the contrary. With a fair crack of the whip CFC could well have had a second UCL, and with a bit of luck a third.

CFC got their just UCL desserts at the very end of the old squad's viability. It's the least they deserved. Taking it out on a squad now undergoing a fundamental refit is glib.

This tournament is not hugely important to European teams. Corinthians clearly wanted it a lot more than Chelsea. Some people are seriously underestimating Corinthians and Brazilian domestic football.

Ye were good, but not super good.

To the contrary. We were stiffed by refs in crucial Barca and Inter matches. Barca could never really get a grip on Chelsea. And there's Terry's peno against Man U.

It's all water under the bridge now, but by dumping on the current transitional squad, the power, grit, skill and coherence of the previous squad is being ignored. And the fact that they ran it close in the UCL three times in addition to their actual victory.

Ah well sure had we turned up against Barca in 09 and not had perfect good goal disallowed in 04 against Porto we have few more.

    If, buts and maybes.

All very well TKT, but you're missing the point. Check out CR7 at post 76 above.

Not sure when it was said, but only saw what Marco Materazzi had to say about Rafa on another site. Not big fan was he.

    You're comparing apples with bottles.

He makes a valid point, one penalty kick away from winning and robbed vs Barca in 09.

United on the other hand were exposed in 09 and 11 while in 04 they were knocked out in the last 16.

There's really that little difference between watching on TV and going to a match? Looks like I'm not missing out on much.
