I should point out I'm commenting on the single player only.

And it's only one person's opinion but I found it to be drivel. There are a LOT more creative games out there to spend my time on.

I feel sorry for gaming if it beats titles like Journey in GOTY.

Id actually agree with you. I loved the original Borderlands but i just couldnt warm to this one. Its a good game but very overrated. It just seemed to be more of the same. I did play co-op although not with friends so maybe its more fun with friends, i dont know.

I definitely wouldnt class it as GOTY though.

Is it worth paying extra for the Emperor Edition of Endless Space or is it just a pointless addition?

From the description it seems a bit pointless, i went for the admiral one

Considering its a pittance, definitely. The extra hero in-game is quite potent, and it gives your votes a slight bit more weight in the community voting for upcoming features.

Could anyone point out the downsides of Endless Space? I like games set in space/sci-fi in general, does it have anything really annoying about it?

KOTOR 2 Thank you very much.

Steam related question - I'm home for Xmas and the internet here is about 10 times better than in my apartment, can I download Steam games to my laptop and transfer them to my PC somehow? Like I've Max Payne 3 to download but all 32GB would take about a month in my apartment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,395 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

    yes you can

You can download them on the laptop and using the restore feature, you can see the games on your pc

(of course you have to connect the laptop the computer)

If you have an external hard drive, you can back up the games to that and then restore on the pc

    edit

connect the laptop to the pc by using lan cable

After downloadung the game Go into Steam -> File -> Backup Games -> Select the games you want to backup and the location (External HDD).

I think that you can also copy the entire steam folder over from one computer to another.

Yep you could also find the game folder in the steamapps folder and just copy it directly, but backup is probably handier.

    Out if interest.

How bad would it be if I was to Skip KOTOR 1 and go straight into KOTOR 2. ?

I have a lot of games to get through so don't judge:o

    It makes absolutely no sense.

It's a verifiable fact the first game is the better game. The second one, while good, is essentially a facsimile of Bioware's original by another developer and one that was forced out the door long before it was completed to boot.

If you only play one there's no reason on Earth to make it KOTOR 2.

Play Kotor 1 first. Fantastic game.

Also, anyone buying Kotor 2 make sure to get the restored content mod. Fixes a lot of what was wrong with the original release.

Taking it easy this sale, so far I've got Binary Domain, The Walking Dead and KotoR. Will pick up a few more games in sure but I can see this being a cheap sale as at this stage I have pretty much everything in the sale that I'd even consider.

Edit: Any useful Mods for KOTOR 1 ?

A general tip I'd give is that a bit like Mass Effect 1, it's a bit dated looking and the gameplay is rough around the edges. Give it time though and once you get into the swing of it it's great craic.

are dawnguard and hearthfire worth it?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 23,353 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kiith

If anyone who bought Endless Space also happens to have Comodo Firewall installed, make sure to activate Game Mode or it will hard lock your system on launch. Had this pc for around 8 months, and that's the first hard lock i've had. Kind of annoying.

I'd wait for dawnguard. Its not very good and not really worth 9 euro. Probably worth leaving it till the next sale and hoping for a 75% reduction.

On the plus side the steam sale makes it very handy to buy gifts for people.

On the down side it becomes very easy to adopt a "I want that too.."

    One game for you.
    One game for me.

There's a few nuances in the way the game works, but that's what their dev forums are for. They make changes based on player feedback, and there's been loads of changes for the better so far.

I bought it on release and was extremely pissed with the amount of issues.. Couldn't even bind the arrow keys without rooting in config files

The latest patch seems to have improved things a bit but pathfinding is still poor at times.

Wasn't worth what I paid but not bad at sale pricing

am considering getting the walking dead, does it play well on a laptop as in using the keys, or would i be better off getting some sort of gaming controller?

You definitely don't need a controller but I would recommend a mouse over the mousepad.

On a separate note, do we reckon Far Cry 3 will get a discount in this sale?

Max Payne 3 for €12.50. Any reason not to get this? Seems like a great price and I enjoyed the first two games.

aside from the fact that one of the best games of 2012 is going for 12.50 only seven months after it was released and that this is skewing pc gamers expectations of justifiable game pricing, no reason.
