Is Natural Selection 2 worth getting for €10?
If you need a fresh MP thing to play I'd say go for it. I tried NS1 a few times and its clearly got a learning curve but the potential for massive piles of fun was there. Unfortunately though I have that current niche filled with Nuclear Dawn and Planetside2, and TF2 as a fallback.

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 17,137 Mod ✭✭✭✭cherryghost

Personally love Natural Selection 2. It's a fresh look at the FPS genre, but you'll end up looking at tutorial videos before playing. Aliens in particular take some getting used to.

My final purchases on sales were:
    Sleeping Dogs
    Little Inferno
    Ridge Racer Unbounded Bundle
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City New
    Fortune Summoners
    Bioshock Franchise Pack
    Grand Theft Auto 3
    Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
    Dead Rising 2 Complete Pack
    Cherry Tree High Comedy Club
    Hotline Miami
    Jet Set Radio
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle Mode DLC
    Chivalry: Medieval Warfare
    FTL: Faster Than Light
    LEGO Lord of the Rings
    XCOM: Enemy Unknown
    Darksiders Franchise Pack
    Devil May Cry 4
    Natural Selection II
    Wargame: European Escalation
    Hitman Collection

150 euro spent roughly, for 26 games. Some games I purchases on GMG over christmas instead as it worked out cheaper.

not a big fan of it. It doesnt do minecraft as well as minecraft and it doesnt do Tf as well as TF. Less than the sum of its parts i think

I remember beta had a good buzz about it but nothing more since; I recall some complaints about the accuracy of guns or something back then.

Bought it last night, played for an hour or so. Probably won't be playing it again.

Take from that what you will.

I always imagined it as being what it looks like: a game trying to cash in on the popularity of minecraft.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,043 ✭✭✭Wossack

price seems a bit outlandish for it imo

one of the gripes I heard, was the relatively short round time, meaning theres no point building anything.. maybe very server dependant though

surely must be some minecraft mods with similar, if not better implementation?

for about 20 minutes steam glitched and sleeping dogs was 91% off

lol that was a glitch, i just thought it was a crazy sale. I noinked it as soon as i seen it, i wasnt going to buy it because of metacritic reviews but then 4.49 was to good to turn down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 232 ✭✭lemon_remon

The "classic" Ace of Spades is much better than the one they have on the Steam store which is a butchered version of the original. The original was free, a good laugh and there's still some servers up here.

Only bought binding of Isaac with some change left in my steam wallet. Other than that I'm safe, only an hour left to hold out

picked it up the last day of the sale. Only installed it today and only past character creation as the servers were down for maintenabce most of the day. From what I've seen so far looks pretty good.

Fantastic little game. Can't believe I overlooked it for so long, I've spent over €120 in the sale and I can't drag myself away from it to play anything else!!

    Final tally for me
    Game|Price
    Silent Hunter III|€3.24
    I Am Alive|€5.09
    Assassin's Creed|€2.49
    Assassin's Creed II: Deluxe Edition|€3.74
    FTL: Faster Than Light|€4.99
    Botanicula|€2.24
    Half Minute Hero|€3.39
    Spec Ops The Line (ROW)|€6.79
    Total|€31.97

Definitely should have picked up FTL sooner. It is bloody brilliant.

Do make sure you download the GWX mod for Silent Hunter 3. It's a global mod that improves the game drastically.

Used to spend days hunting convoys in the deep Atlantic imagining I was in Das Boot :D

Yippee, I managed to completely avoid this thread & sale :D

So for me the tally was:

    Awesomenauts (Gift)
    Dota 2 (Gift)
Specs Ops: The Line (very very good game)
    Tomb Raider Collection
    Legacy of Kain Collection
    Star Wars: KOTOR
Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition Complete Pack
    Skyrim - Dawnguard

Not bad but not great. Would have loved to have seen Dark Souls and Dishonoured at 75%. There was nothing really 'headline worthy' like that in this sale.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,279 ✭✭✭RobertFoster

I didn't get anything directly from Steam, but I did benefit from Amazon.com price matching :)

    The Walking Dead - $12.49 (€9.99)
    Hotline Miami - $4.99 (€4.29)
Spec Ops The Line - $2.49 ($7.49-$5 voucher from purchasing the other two)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

Through canny use of tokens I bagged the following :

Thief pack (Gold, The Metal Age, Dark Shadows)
    Magicka + DLC
    The Longest Journey
    Dreamfall
    LA Noire
    Assassin's Creed II
    Hotline Miami
Max Payne 3 + Rockstar Pass
    Endless Space
    Star Wars : KoToR II
    Sim City 4 Deluxe
    Universe Sandbox
    Dead Island + DLC
Hitman pack (I, II, Blood Money)
    Batman Arkham City GotY
    The Walking Dead

And thanks to the generosity of the Boardsies community (or maybe I'm just a gifted scab-merchant?) I also snagged a DOTA2 invite and Frozen Synapse. The heroes know who they are :)

Right, now the sale is over, and hopefully all the beggers have scarpered off somewhere else, I have a proposition for y'all.

I've some DOTA2 gifts to give away.

PM me with why you think I should pick you, along with your steam name, and I might fire you across one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,315 ✭✭✭Big Knox

I have 8 dota invites also, if anyone would like one send me on your steam details!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,732 ✭✭✭Magill

I have given away about half a dozen on boards and about a dozen to steam friends.

You can get rid of them on steamgifts.com also which I did for about 5 too.

Oh and also have some still available if anyone is looking for any.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,324 ✭✭✭chrislad

I keep hearing about DOTA, and have no idea what it is (other than it's based on a Warcraft map, or something) so if someone can PM a code, that would be nice. :)

Finished Dawn of War, before I tuck into the expansions I've been giving Overlord a go and quite enjoying it! It has it's issues but for a fiver for the series you can't go too wrong. Best way to describe it is pikmin in a fantasy setting I suppose.

    Battlefield 3?
Still needs to be activated on Origin, but amazon act as partners/vendors for selling keys as well. Can be cheaper at times.

    It's here:
    http://www.amazon.com/Battlefield-3-Premium-Edition-Download/dp/B0098QPPL6/ref=pd_sim_vg_7

You'll need to add a US address onto your account for the 1 click purchase for Amazon.com

Seem's it's gone back up to full price anyway.

They should all come with the premium version I linked. The "premium pass" is intended if someone just bought standard.
