Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    This is entertaining.
It the main reason that folks seem to be against a winter break is cos they will have nothing to do over Christmas

As soon as clubs charge in at the gate or charge a tv company to show their games they are in the entertainment industry. We as the consumer demand entertainment at times when we want to be entertained over the winter period and like any other industry, the consumer should get what they want.

But you are going to get the games anyway

But people here seem to think that it's of the utmost importance that they get them between Dec 26th and Jan 2nd.

What way does football work with regard to employee protection? Do they have the same rights as any other working citizen?

If they do, then I find it amazing that players could be working from late July to the end of May (or late June depending on International tournaments) without any break in between. I can't understand why people would begrudge them having a break TBH.

Unless you work in education is this not the same for anyone in full-time employment?

Squads are big enough to deal with injuries
No, some squads are big enough to deal with injuries. We're already at the stage where the amount of games a top team plays means that you cannot hope to win the title with a squad of 14-18 players. You need quality right through to the 20-25. Which only makes the gap between the top 3-4 and the rest all the more yawning

Secondly, in terms of player welfare that's an atrocious statement. Nobody should want a player like Wiltshire or Ramsey breaking down because their body simply can't take the amount of game they're being forced to play
