What games are worth picking up now (while they're easily got) before the new xbox comes along?

The really good games from the last 5 years I'm after. I want to stock up!:D

    Not GTA or Red Dead.

    Thanks!

Gears of War 1, 2 and 3, Halo 3, Reach, ODST and 4, Assassins Creed II, Brotherhood, Revelations and III, Mass Effect 2 and 3, Borderlands 1 and 2, Skyrim.

Just go to metacritic and sort them by score and you'll find the typical blockbusters.

alot of my favorite 360 games are actually from a good bit back

    Bayonetta
Lego Star Wars: The Original Trilogy
    Megadrive Ultimate Collection
    Burnout Revenge
Need For Speed Most Wanted (the 2005 version)
    Guitar Hero 3

and there are some great original Xbox games that work on 360 too:

    Shenmue 2
    Dungeons & Dragons Heroes
    Grabbed By The Ghoulies
    Wakeboarding Unleashed
Lord Of The Rings: The Third Age
    Project Gotham Racing 2
    State Of Emergency

in case you hadnt figured, I'm not a big fan of shooters

Most have been mentioned already. I'll throw in Limbo from xbl arcade, such a quality game.

Shadow Complex - probably the best XBLA game out there.

A lot of good ones have been said already, but a few more I like are, call of duty 4, brothers in arms, far cry 2, Rainbow six (2 games, and both had offline missions you could play). I also wasn't a big fan of gta/red dead but I played "the saboteur" non stop and also halo wars.

Have to disagree with that one, sorry.
Maybe Far Cry 3, or Just Cause 2 in its place.

Far cry 3 is on my christmas list, so maybe after that I might change my mind.

Fallout 3. Great game to explore, get spooked out in, great gameplay and choices. Liam Neeson FTW
