Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Got woken by neighbour taking wheelie bin out in the middle of the night. Fell asleep and said neighbour woke me an hour later rummaging noisily in drawers in room on other side of our bedroom wall.

Spent an hour waiting at Galway Clinic for my dads out patient appointment to finish whilst an old chap sat at my table wanting to rant about something in the newspaper that annoyed him. I kept my head down doing some crosswords and it kept him, mostly, at bay.

Tomorrow I'll spend almost 2 hours on the bus to Galway, probably 2 hours at least waiting for my outpatient appointment and almost 2 hours on the bus back. Gotta be up at 6am to make sure I'm in Galway on time. I hate being a public patient, bloody pre-existing conditions:mad:. I also really really really hate my neighbours.

    My news:

I got up at 8:35 even though I had school at 9:00. I'd actually been awake since 8:00 but I'm pretty sure my body immobilises while I sleep and has a certain "warm-up" period.

School was pretty boring. We did a titration experiment which was pretty uneventful, but I learned how to spell "phenolphthalein". Most bizarre spelling I've seen in a while. Creator of the word must have been on some crazy chemicals himself.

After school,I helped a guy in my year look for his iPhone as he'd lost it during the day. No success unfortunately. Owning an old Nokia like me prevents all the stress associated with owning expensive electronics.

In the evening I was having dinner, just me and my mother eating. It was awkward when that advertisement about pornography was on RTE. These things should only be broadcast after the watershed.

I am stressed now because there's a few deadlines in front of me and I've only now come to realise how soon they are.

I'm an extremely laid back person so I always leave things to the last minute without even a hint of worry until a deadline is on me and then I flip. Especially if it's very important, which it is.

When I'm stressed I don't sleep because it's on my mind, and when I don't sleep, I don't eat, and when I don't eat, I lose weight, and when I lose weight, I lose my muscle mass -which fuks up my goal of getting very, very fit for college in September.

I miss keith16 too. Sort things out for me :(

    And bring beer.

    My News

It is Thursday and foggy. I am just after lying down on my new mattress. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Feels good. I have to have a grown up meeting with a pension man tomorrow, he says I won't get my pension until I'm seventyfive but I say that's no good to me, I'll probably be long deaf by then and have no need for it.

    I miss keith69 too.

Today I got a job rejection. Its hit me hard because it was a huge opportunity and I made it down to the final few from a few thousand applicants.
I have one other reply to get and after that its all lesser paid jobs. Hopefully I'll get an answer tomorrow one way or the other so at least I can plan for it.

This is my catch-up on demand news:

Last night my sister in law was at the Script too, she probably bumped into Negative Creep and didn't know it. Maybe not, but Negative Creep might want to avoid her because she called me last night and said nothing on the phone, not even heavy breathing, all I could hear was the concert in the background. I hung up when she wouldn't even say hello back. Love the girl to bits, but my god she is strange sometimes. At least she wouldn't have to go double-barrel if she and Negative Creep got married- Negative Creep and Ms. Creepy Creep.

My wife likes to go double-barrel on facebook. She says it makes people easier to find her, then complains about people finding her and wanting to be her friend. Such contradictions confuse me greatly so I try not to think too much about them.

I stay away from social networks because the processing power required for the mindless information overload would be too much for my tiny brain. My wife says she's seen grapes with more brains. I've never seen a brainy grape, but I'll take her word for it. It's important to her that she always knows better, so whatever keeps her happy, because when she's happy, then she isn't unhappy. I don't like to see anyone unhappy. It makes me unhappy.

I will work until I retire because I like my work. I do not plan on retiring because I like my work too much. I have a pension and life insurance plan in case plan A doesn't work. It's always good to have a plan B and C in place. Plan C was like Izzy's retirement plan, but I will have to revise it because of some suicide clause in plan B that says I cannot execute plan C. My wife helpfully suggested a plan D which apparently was her plan A. She's been planning how to bump me off for years. She will have to come up with a plan B as clearly her plan A hasn't worked.

On a lighter note, news just in:

I just got a call from the orthapaedic consultant's secretary. She did not breathe heavily down the phone. She said hello when I said hello. She then asked me was I still interested in seeing the consultant. I said I was so she pencilled me in for a date in March. I meant to call to reschedule my appointment all week but I was working.

I tend to forget things when I'm working as my grape sized brain can only hold so much information before it pushes other information out to make room for new information, so it is a good thing she called me. I now have to wait again another two months. After having put up with a dead leg for 36 years, another two months isn't going to kill me. That might solve the conundrum presented by plan C, but I'd rather plan A work out first than have plan C implemented by default.

This has been my news, now for the weather-

It's frickin' baltic out there and I'm frozen stiffer than a snowman's sack (try saying that fast three times!).

This thread is always great - I love hearing about what people are up to, I'm nosy like that :)

Today I was in town and volunteered at a conference on foetal heart health. I was in a little room like the Wizard of Oz and they scanned my baby and projected the footage up on to a big screen along with footage of the scan machine going around my belly. They looked at the baby's heart for ages so I learned lots about hearts and that baby is healthy. I also saw again that it is definitely a boy - seriously, babies in the womb have massive balls (I'll be very worried if it turns out to be a girl now)!

Tonight I am going out with my friends for dinner and drinks, I told my friend she is drinking for two because I can't. This should be fun, she sees it as a challenge.

Now I'm going to have a nap - fun times :P

    That is my news :)

Yestureday - I was at the course. I went up to the car mechanic later on who is my neighbour. I help him with bits and bobs like servicing, changing light bumbs, changing break pads and small things like that. While learning to do more difficult jobs on cars.

I'm blessed to be able to go up to him. Keeps me out of trouble and I love to learn things about cars. He said he will teach me to weld and spary a car in the next few weeks. His is also going to swap an engine in a car form a 1liter to a 1.6 gti engine. the car is a Peugeot 106.

Today - Might go up to the mechanic after the dinner. At work experience at the moment. It's friday and sunny. Today I am having fish for dinner.

Yesterday, I was at my uncle's funeral, which was very upsetting, so I got very drunk.

Today, my dad decided to make me feel better by surprising me with a subway.

Now, I'm in work. A boardsie is popping into me soon to get some theatre tickets from me, as I can't use them. I will be demanding a photo with him.

Tonight, the folks are gone to a hotel, despite being separated. :pac: So I'm going to drunken babysit my kid sister.

    Now, back to work. boo-urns.

Welding is very easy. It only seems intimidating at first but once you get into it and get your technique, it's piss easy.

    My News:

I have finished work for the day and I am very pleased with myself. I think I have that "Friday feeling".

So, for my efforts I have just awarded myself a Mr Kipling's Lemon Fancy. It is a great partner to a cup of Yorkshire tea. They are very moreish.

Now I am reading things on the internet for plans for my summer holidays. I am going to go for a bicycle visit to Ireland.

Later I will take the clippers to my hair. When I am finished I will look much better.

    The end of my news.

Yeah, it's similar to anything that seems technical at first like using a lathe. It's just getting used to it, finding your technique and trying not to be intimidated by it at first.

After that you could even take a whack at making fire irons or some iron work in general.

I got drunk last night. It was awesome.
A girl that I had a falling out with was there, I was very nice to her and everyone was surprised with how calm I was being. Then she turned all manipulative and shít got weird. I still stayed all cool and calm. I'm not able for all this drama. I think I should have been a man. I just can't handle bitchy women at all at all.

I went to the cinema today, saw I give it a year. 'twas funny and different. Very enjoyable :)

I'm now home in bed, nap time before the drunken madness begins again.

When you get handy enough at it you'll be able to weld a pair of wings on that peugot and take off once you get the bigger engine in! :D

Arc welding is much easier I always found than CO2 welding, something almost orgasmically satisfying about chipping the flux off an arc weld, as opposed to CO2 welding which would make baby jesus cry! :(

Oh, and the electrics in renaults can be hinky as fcuk, because the fuses go the whole time, but don't just take my word for it, look what happened to this guy-

Oh yes, afternoon news summary (almost got caught off guard like Aengus Mac Grianna there!):

    - Collected son from school

    - Grocery shopping

    - Met flirty rotund girl that works in the car park doing her shopping. She made me laugh, then she went about the rest of her shopping.

    - I turned back to my wife standing beside me who had that "ohh grow up!" expression on her face. I stopped laughing. Serious face. My wife knows me well enough to know I fancy the rather rotund rear off the rather rotund car park girl.

    - I got home and took a shower as I was left feeling rather hot under the collar by the rather rotund car park girl, and my ears were burning from my wife. I will be seeking a refund on these earphones as they do not work for their intended purpose.

    - In the shower my wife came in and reminded me to drop down the laundry, I knew I would forget what she said by the time I was out of the shower so I called the laundry man and asked him instead could he call over and pick up the laundry. He agreed to call over later.

We'll go now to a commercial break so I can finish my shower.

We'll have further updates on these and other stories in our next bulletin.

Today I got some horrible news.

A good friend of mine died today. I got the news this morning in work from his girlfriend over the phone. He was quite young.

After I put down the phone I sat there for a while, frozen, my mind was empty, there was complete stillness and emptiness inside me and around me. I realised I should leave the office before someone walks in. So I went to another office that was empty at the time, I cried for a half hour, quietly. Then I felt a meltdown coming, I knew I needed to leave and go home a.s.a.p. I just left, told nobody. Got in my car and went home. I've written some poetry, and everything that has been on my mind down to calm myself a bit.

I really do not know how to feel at the minute.

    :(

I met the boardsie today, and a photo was taken, as per my request. I look awful in it, due to being in my work uniform.

My heating decided to pack in, so I have left the kid sister to her own devices, while I get drunk and hide underneath a blanket, to keep me warm.

I had a fat day. Ate a full three meals, two of which were fast food. That's probably more calories in one day than I've consumed in the past two weeks. My arteries will thank me, I'm sure.

Now, to go back to my wine and get drunk. :D
