Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I need to buy a laptop for work in NZ. Should I buy here or wait till I get there? Are they cheaper here and will one I buy here work down there, ie disk drive?

In general they're much cheaper in Ireland/UK. They'll work fine down in NZ too, apart from needing a plug adapter.

Only reason to get one after arriving in NZ would be if work pay for it, (or if you're self-employed and can write it off as a tax-deductible expense)

If you buy one in Ireland make sure you use it before it's opened. I bought one on a stop over in Australia before I came here and because it was still boxed up I had to pay import tax on it because it was unused. Can't remember the exact amount.

    Hope this helps!

To be honest I'd just buy down here, Dell have just as good deals here as they do back home and as above if you get hit with 15% GST when you arrive it kind of defeats the purpose in buying overseas. Plus if you buy local you'll have support and a warranty. Harvey Norman, Dick Smith, Warehouse, Noel Leeming all have good deals as well as Dell. There are also loads of smaller shops that have excellent deals check them out on www.pricespy.co.nz if you know the model you want.
