Based on what? This whole thing was probably done over a laptop in his private home, not at band practise.

Why wouldn't they know? This charge probably stems from something that could be under investigation for months. His legal people probably told him it ain't looking good and he'd have to cancel the tour for the simple reason he wouldn't be able to leave the UK. The rest of the band and the management would have been told and they announced the cancellation under the guise of an illness. Whether or not they knew he was into this sort of thing for presumably most of his adult life? I'd be amazed if they didn't know something about him. Didn't his ex report him to the cops a few years back for something similar and then it quietly disappeared?

    Have you got a link?

Did it feel to anyone else like this band were supporting everyone at one stage? Pretty sure I seen them a grand total of 5 times even though I thought they were awful and only seen them because they were supporting somebody I liked.

How someone could think otherwise is beyond me.

Saw em supporting Metallica and they were awful

Was at that gig myself. They were shocking.

A one year old? If true, that is ****ing sick.

Have you heard this? that's what I'm asking, I read a few things written online (obviously not the gospel) over the summer. One recurring rumour is that he was reported by her and that is why one of the albums is called the betrayal. Very mickey mouse sounding stuff, but that said I doubt the cops would name him and refuse him bail at the risk of destroying his career and incurring the obvious lawsuit if they weren't fairly confident they had reasonable grounds. Working along those lines and coupling that with the cancellation of the gigs, it looks like this storm was possibly gathering for a long time.

Christ. And I really like them.

Don't feel so guilty now for lobbing bottles at the prick when they supported Metallica/Slipknot at The RDS

For his sake I honestly hope this isn't true, but sure, what do I know

    OK, according to Wales Online,
The 35-year-old, whose band have sold more than 3.5 million albums worldwide, is alleged to have conspired with another woman to rape a one-year-old girl, Cardiff magistrates heard.

He also stands accused of two incidents of conspiring to engage in sexual touching with two young children; possessing, making and distributing indecent images; and possessing "extreme" animal pornography.

    Disturbing stuff indeed

I find the one year old stuff too disturbing to believe =/

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

If those allegations are true then  Just

The 2 women involved, aged 20 & 24 cannot be named for legal reasons.

As they're over 18 the only reason i can think of that they can't be named is that they are related to the child in question and by naming them would give away the childs identity.

This is seriously seriously fcuked up

Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins has been denied bail and remanded in custody on child sex charges.

Watkins appeared at the Cardiff Magistrates Court today after being charged with two counts of conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with a female under 13 and three counts of possessing, making, distributing indecent images of children and possessing "extreme" animal pornography.

The Lostprophets vocalist has been denied bail and ordered to remain in jail until his next hearing at Cardiff Crown Court on December 31st.

No surprise. He won't get out of the country for a long time, if at all!?

    Sick f#&k

I know i may get slated for this , but i used to like LP . But id say if i was the rest of the band id start looking for a new singer and a new band

Even if the allegations turn out to be true I'll still listen to their music as I do quite like them. They're not the greatest band ever or anything but they can write a catchy song and are quite good live.

Pretty shocking. I was expecting t to be something like an under-age groupie, but now it sees to be far more sinister.

I'd like to think that the other guys in the band knew nothing about it. If they didn't I'm sure they're disgusted and can't believe what was going on. It'll tarnish all of them I'd say.

    Seriously f*cked up

That's ****ed up. I wonder will his fans get behind him and support him the way jackos fans did.

This is the problem with the way the media works, while at the minute he is only alleged to be involved in the despicable crimes the sad fact is that no matter the out come the rest of the band are going to be dragged through the mud. If Watkins is found guilty people will assume that the rest of the band knew what he was up to even if they had no idea and in cases such as this it would be the norm that they were oblivious to it all.

Either way, he'll have to quit the band now, I'd say........?

Edit: their website seems to be down.......

I actually really liked 'Start Something', haven't listened to it in years though. But tbh, the guy was a woeful vocalist, truly truly awful.

Yeah, they may even be a better band without him.

Without condoning anything he's alleged to have done; pedophilia is a mental illness.

Crap, so a guy wants kids, it's classed as a mental illness. If a guy wants another guy then would you class that as a mental illness too?

on one of the other boards I go to someone posted a link to a whos dating who sort of gossip message board and on his page on it it was riddled in accusations of having child porn on his lap top and looking to drug kids and rape them etc...going on about 2 women/girls who wanted to report him but were threatened not to and so on...a lot of the post were mad conspiracy sounding and totally over the top and basically come/came across as mad hatters but after the last few days maybe there was/is some truth to it...the crazy thing is all those messages were posted 11 months ago....

The difference there is whether a guy wants another guy (over the age of consent of course) they are still both adults who are physically and emotionally capable of sex. However if a guy wants a kid, that kid is not physically and emotionally capable of sex and that's where pedophilia is morally wrong and homosexuality is not. Whether it's mental illness or not is still tricky to define.

yeah, i think you explained that far better than me, but IMO it's not a mental illness, if it was they'd all just plead insanity

    No, I wouldn't, shockingly.

Pedophilia is classed as a mental illness, if what he's accused of is true, there's something seriously wrong with him, he should be treated, not told to kill himself/told x hopes he gets murdered in jail/whatever.

So he shouldn't go to jail, he should go to hospital?

I believe people who commit crimes because of a mental illness should be treated first and foremost. I dont mean any sort of normal hospital, I mean a proper full on mental hospital where he would receive treatment for the illness which could extend to castration/hormone therapy whatever. It's not exactly the comparative barrel of laughs you seem to think it is.

Then, possibly prison, I dont know how exactly it works, afaik he would have to serve some of the sentence.
