free word processing prog

I would like suggestion as to the best free word processor for win 7 64 bit. I understand there is no 64 bit openoffice and i am not sure if that makes much difference. also I find the spell checker really bad with OO

There is a 64 bit openoffice. Have it myself.

it says x 86, is that 64 bit

No x86 is not 64 bit but there's no reason why a word processor or office suite should be 64 bit really (at least not yet). For a full office suite you can use any time LibreOffice as PrzemoF posted is probably the best option. You can also use Microsoft Office online for free if you have a Live ID.

If you just want a word processor, I've heard good things about AbiWord, but I've never used it myself.

Google drive is also an option, it's fairly basic but it's in the cloud so pretty secure from the sense of backups.
