Artist Exemption?

I have the idea of providing an online service from home.

I am a musician and I have a home recording studio.

The service I would like to provide is to record instrument tracks for musicians who either don't have the means at recording the instrument or if they cant play a particular instrument but want it featured in their song.

I intend this to be an online only with a .com domain and to work from home, I don't need to hire staff and I don't need any start up grants or funds.

I just don't know if this qualifies as a business or if it would be covered under the artist exemption

As far as I know it only applies/applied to the writers/creators of artistic works not the performers. See http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/it/reliefs/artists-exemption.html. If you are doing it for money, it is a business or profession and any income is taxable as per any self employed person.
