Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Samsung Galaxy Ace Internal Memory

A question for those who have the Galaxy Ace. My sister in law has this phone but the problem is that its only got about 20mb of internal memory left due to a couple of apps (Facebook and WhatsApp being two) that wont move to an SD Card (without rooting). Thus, the phone is slow and moaning about no space.

Any tips on how to tackle this? Got an External Memory card and moved over whatever could be onto that - pics, videos, some apps, and so on. It helped but didn't fix the issue. I cleared the cache manually but also by getting an app which confirmed I had nothing left to clear.

So with cache cleared, the apps that can go on an SD card moved and all pics/videos over on the SD card - what else can be done to freeup memory?

Guys read the op. He has moved everything he can to sd and messages will take up hardly any space. I think the problem is the apps that can't be moved to sd take up lots of space. (well I know facebook does anyway)

I think your only option is to root the phone so you can move more apps and delete pre-installed Samsung crap.

Tuxy, I left a question re rooting in the FAQ thread; might you know how to root a samsung galaxy xcover GT-S5690 as I'm having similar problems with memory on my phone.

I've never it tried it myself with that phone model so use at your own risk.

That worked, so I installed link2sd and moved a few apps across. It seems to give the option of deleting the likes of AP news, Maps and a few others; is there any harm in deleting the likes of these as I don't use them.

Well ap news can go anyway not sure what else. If you use titanium backup you can freeze apps before moving them to make sure everything works ok.

Cheers Tuxy, I reckon I've freed up enough by either moving or linking apps to the sd card.

For the OP, I downloaded mini partition tool and partitioned a 4GB sd card I'd picked up in powercity for a fiver 8GB were €9.95. I put aside 1GB on the SDcard leaving me 2.8 which for my needs is more than enough.

Thanks to Tuxy I used his link to 'root' my phone and then I downloaded link2sd. I moved some of my bigger apps to the sd card eg Scramble (24mb) and linked others as in Twitter, TuneIn because as widgets you are seemingly not meant to move them.

Having downloaded a couple of extra apps and updated others as in youtube, I've gone from having roughly 20mb of internal memory and having to clear data and cache all the time; to now having 80mb of space with data and cache now linked to the second partition on the sd card 'hopefully'.

So once again thanks Tuxy and hopefully you'll get the same result on your sisters phone.

Isn't my phone, was the sister in law looking at getting it fixed. Would need to take the phone for a few hours to root it and I haven't done it before so wouldn't want to brick it on the first attempt :D
