Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    time_magazine.jpg

What do you make of it?

I cant say Im bowled over with it at all. I know its not meant to be a fashion shot but the skin tones are really unflattering. I dont like that shadow around his head either. It looks like somebody did a really half assed job with a layer mask in PS.

It does have some redeeming qualities but overall I cant say Im a fan.

I think it would have worked a lot better with a darker/black background instead of that shadow on grey.

It does look lifted and placed on a lighter BG.

dont think they were going for flattering with the image.

dont think they were going for flattering with the image.

I was thinking the same thing, it's a bizarre choice of shot. I wonder if this will garner the same controversy as that shot of OJ back in the day, also a TIME cover IIRC.

But they ended up with unflattering. Surely that wasnt the intention either.

I hardly expected an over the top skin smoothing approach but I think this is just as extreme in the opposite direction. Maybe its personal taste but it just looks like somebody ran riot with the clarity slider in Lightroom.

I quite like it, there's another shot from the same shoot that's just as good in my opinion.

The photographer was nadav kander. Looking through his portfolio, it seems to me that he's not really into photoshopping all that much. Impressive body of work there as well.

For me it's the dark dull hue of the democratic blue the makes the pic.

Not with the OP at all here. The tones are played with to colour the depth of feeling. By both him and his country.

I think it captures him well. He aint the chirpy good guy no more... solid leadership but there is a dark shadow hanging over him now
