Of course the injuries are emphasized, its only been this season where hes got an uninterrupted run ffs. You seem to be just nit picking for the sake of it to be honest.

He simply hasn't progresssed like Gilroy or Zebo because hes been hit with injuries. Isnt that the point?

Not really. My point is, that while injury might have played a part in his inability to break through last season, this season has given him a consistent run of games where he hasn't progressed or impressed like Zebo or Gilroy did with a similar run at their own provinces.

Allowing for his injuries last season I think he's been very disappointing this season. Don't see how that's nit picking.

He'll probably have a stormer now tonight, and I hope he does!

No, you placed heavy emphasis on injuries which haven't been present this season.

I don't think the lack of penetration in Leinster's backplay explains it all either. He just simply hasn't pregrossed at anywhere near the speed of Gilroy and Zebo, which is disapointing considering he was the best back we had U20's for two years.

Hopefully it's a case of him just getting to grips with the game at the top level because he's still a serious prospect

At what point does a serious prospect become a 'never has been'?

Not at the age of 21 anyway..

lol hes had a run of 4 consistent full games (where he scored 2 tries) and then had a month lay off and then played against Zebre.

So 4 consistent games is enough to say hes been very disappointing so far?

Wasn't refering to Conway specifically tbh.

Surprised he's so young, you lot have been bleating on about him for at least 4 years ;)

Are you lot watching this on BBC or RTE??

Generally, around 26 I think. At Leinster, it appears to be 21 going on the views held by many on Ruddock, Conway and Macken. The odd thing is, the most vocal and critical on these guys tends to be the a section of Leinster's own support.

I'm not sure if I find it bewildering, hilarious or depressing. When I was 21 I was drinking beers, surfing the net, going to music festivals and sponging off my father. These guys are kids. The fact that they're established professionals at 21 is impressive in itself.

No George Hamilton for RTE, got caught up in the protest so they are using the BBC commentators. Would have switched anyway

All the same. Jim Neilly commentating on RTE due to Hamilton getting stuck in a protest.

To me 24 for a back and 26 for a loose forward and 29 for a tight five forward but thats just me

Well at least something good came from those protests.

Good defence from Leinster but very weak to be turned over so easily. Thought that was a very weak penalty. SOB wasn't impeding the ball coming back at all and it was clearly there.

    Don't like this commentator :/

Good start by Ulster, bad kick by Jackson.

Is it just me or does Paddy Jackson always look nervous?

    Great kick Madigan!

Don't think that lineout was straight at all...

  • Site Banned Posts: 1,519 ✭✭✭Higher

    definitely wasn't straight.

Healy should have held or passed inside there. Leinster losing the ball in contact too easy so far.

    Nice one Bent!

First scrum penalty to Leinster, Court not binding.

    Madigan gets his kick, 3-0.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,372 ✭✭✭ongarite

    Great kick from Madigan.

Mad Dog nails a penalty from the sideline. 3-0.

SOB walked straight over Jackson there!

Sloppy from both sides so far.

Leinster doing ok under the up and unders. was a bit worried about that before hand

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,592 ✭✭✭GerM

First 15 minutes is the most composed I've seen Madigan play this season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,372 ✭✭✭ongarite

Leinster looking comfortable on the ball so far.
Ulster up and unders being played far too long.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,424 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

    Bloody daft.

Its his first game at 10 between one of the top SHs (Redden/Boss) and Darcy this season

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

    Nice kick.

Another penalty from Madigan. Same spot. 6-0

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,592 ✭✭✭GerM

That was brainless. Nothing marginal about it despite Ward's assertions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

Henry did brilliantly to rip it free from SOB there, but again they threw it away after a good turnover.

Penalty miss from Jackson just outside the 22. Still 6-0.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

That's a shocking kick from Jackson.

    Another poor miss from Jackson

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,592 ✭✭✭GerM

Very good maul defence by Toner. When he gets in amongst it his power is massive. Ulster were going nowhere once he was in position. Good organisation though to redirect and drive on other side. Bit asleep by Leinster not to be prepared.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,424 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

    Nailed that scrum.

Something must have happened at that scrum, it was like Leinster never engaged

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

At least Jackson has confidence in himself, he took the responsibility, has to get this one after missing 2 handy enough ones.

    And he's got it.

  • Administrators Posts: 54,424 Admin ✭✭✭✭✭awec

    Yes! 3-6

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 388 ✭✭TheKeenMachine

Jackson needs to get this one. Aaand he nails it. 6-3.

Indeed. It was just a fantastic, cohesive hit. When you get guys who have the power of Court and Afoa hitting in tandem and with perfect timing it's near impossible to deal with.
