Does anyone know the purpose of the current Dock road construction work going on?

It runs from Jurys roundabout to behind Dunnes.

City council road maintenance crews need more overtime coming up to Christmas?

I only ever see anyone working there on evenings and weekends (esp. Sunday). It's certainly not about avoiding disruption to traffic, since it's permanently down to one lane anyway.

Construction of new boardwalk along the quayside, further details on another thread here, can't recall where right now.

I take back my cynical remark; it looks great — even allowing for the "artist's impression" — and should have been done a long time ago. Hopefully being overlooked from the rear by Henry St. Garda station will stop it from turning into Scumbag Quay (like the boardwalk in Dublin) and a few decent cafés/eateries will locate there.
