    Hey,

Very quick question can anyone recommend a good book for a guy in his 20's. Something interesting and maybe a bit funny or dark.

    Cheers,

What have you enjoyed in the past?

Try "The Life of Pi", they've made a movie of it so you could see that afterwards and give out that it's not as good as the book:)

Star of the Sea is an amazing Irish book, never met anyone who didn't love it.

Funniest book I can remember reading is A Confederacy of Dunces, that won't disappoint if comedy is your thing.

Fantastic book from last year which may appeal to your age group/life experience is "The Art of Fielding" it's loosely set around college baseball but no knowledge or interest in that or other sports are required.

Give us a bit more info about yourself and you'll get some great help.

Look up Colin Bateman, should fit the bill.

You might like "The First Law" trilogy by Joe Abercrombie. Great characters, nice setting, and very, very dark. Not the sort of fantasy you want to read if you like knights in shining armour.

Otherwise, I cannot recommend the "Flashman" series high enough. Swashbuckling tales of a randy coward constantly being asked to risk life and limb for queen and country.

David Sedaris has a few books of short, funny and sometimes quite dark stories. Barrel Fever is a good one to start with.

Junky by William Burroughs....darkness and laughter in equal measure!
