Trad legend, Paddy 'The Pecker' Dunne has passed away (RIP) I can imagine himself and Robbie McMahon having one hell of a trad session somewhere.

Leading Traveller musician and singer-songwriter Patrick (Pecker) Dunne has died, aged 79, in Killimer, Co Clare.
Of Wexford stock, he was born in his parents’ horse- drawn caravan, in Castlebar, Co Mayo, in Apr 1933, and became known throughout the country as a busker, pub, and concert performer.

A gifted banjo player, he also became proficient on other instruments and was among the elite of Traveller artistes which also included The Fureys.

John Sheahan of the Dubliners said: "Pecker Dunne was a giant of a man who looked like he came from another age. With a face like it was carved out of granite and a big voice to match, he did what he did without any pretence, like one of the old ballad singers that would turn up at fairs around Ireland selling their penny ballads and singing their songs."
