Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Málaga CF (ESP): The club is excluded from participating in the next UEFA club competition for which it would otherwise qualify in the next four seasons (i.e. 2013/14, 2014/15, 2015/16, 2016/17). In addition, Málaga will be excluded from a subsequent UEFA competition for which it would otherwise qualify (in the next four seasons) if it does not prove, by 31 March 2013, that it has no overdue payables towards football clubs or towards employees and/or social/tax authorities, in accordance with the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations.

Málaga has also been fined €300,000. The prize money withheld on 11 September 2012 (as a conservatory measure) will be released.

Seems like his question / point was crystal clear tbh. Going after Malaga is one thing, going after Man City will be quite another.

    Really? why?

Because Malaga have numerous creditors and employees who have been left hung out to dry right now this second. City don't owe anyone a cent.

Come on baby, you can grasp this.

Malaga are being punished for not paying their players/staff.

I never said anything about this been similar to Malaga.

But have they not been breaking the FFP rules for past few seasons?

Like magicmarker says I would not get too excited anyway. Kinda thought few hints of my first post gave that away. Hint Hint nudge nudge.

    Yep.

Why is it always the "rich" clubs that won't pay their bills? How rich are Malaga anyway, might they be Pompey in Spain?

Delighted for them, down to the 4th tier too please.

Basically UEFA are getting tough on a couple of the small kids in class who currently can't afford a pair of shoes. This is the mirage of FFP starting.

Going after PSG or City is a completely different proposition, and would take a lot more balls than it does to sanction the mighty FK Partizan and the likes.

Bingo. Malaga are an easy target IMO.

This ban has nothing to do with FFP.

Malaga owners have since the summer just stopped funding the club so that is the issue not FFP
which is a real shame because i think they were on there way to maybe challenge Real & Barca in a few years

" in accordance with the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations."

Thats the official title of the rules under which they were punished but clubs that don't pay debts to other clubs have always been thrown out of europe long before FFP was even thought of (mostly tiny clubs). So yes, this has nothing to do with new FFP guidelines.

Malaga, the club, are being punished because their owner didn't receive the planning favours he believed he would receieve by pumping money into the local football club.

City's owners lend money to the banks

that is to stop a second season ban.

They are banned from the next Uefa competition they qualify for (within the next 4 years). If they do not prove by March 31st they have paid all money owed they will be banned for a second season (within the next 4 years).

So does everyone with money in a bank account. That's how it works.

Why would City and PSG get some sort of exemption? Malaga are in the ECA so Uefa obviously not bothered by that. So are Dinamo

The value of the CL TV and Sponsorship, etc is more dependent on the participation of some clubs than others.

I could think of several other clubs I'd like to see punished for their insane financial state.

But like LuckyLloyd says: UEFA won't like to punish them, as they have too much power.

I doubt City or PSG are anywhere near the small group of clubs whose participation a sponsor might consider essential to the maintenance of a deal longterm.

because it is easy for Uefa to ban a team for not paying money owed. It is a lot harder to ban teams for failing to meet FFP based on Uefa actually calling BS on, for example, the PSG deal with the Qatar tourism board. Uefa are going to have to nut up if they want FFP to work, and they won't. PSG will get away with it, and thus all other teams will see ways around the FFP regs and all will continue as it currently is.

Have a look into GAZPROM, their sponsorship of Uefa CL, and they ownership/sponsorship of Zenit.

City have to be mightily close given all their spending and the players at the club.

Eh? UEFA have been doing it for a few years now. Mallorca was banned in 2010 from Europe.
