Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Today my hairdresser cut what she called fish hooks out of my hair! I have been growing my hair almost 2 years as always short!
Too make long story short I am looking for advice as how I can prevent recurrence of fish hooks so I can keep growing length in hair!
    Thanks for all suggestions ;)

Regular trims is the only way really, aside from keeping up a good routine with conditioners and treatments. Getting rid of the split ends with small trims helps stop long fish hooks from developing, and treatments/conditioners help to prevent split ends (or at least prolong them from occurring)

What are fish hooks in relation to hair?

I don't know if this is right, but it's kind of when you're split ends get quite bad that your hair curls slightly at the ends, creating "fish hook" shapes (regardless of how well your GHD skills are :( )

Yes that's what hairdresser told me! In my case it was over using hair dryer on too high a heat which damaged ends! I was using frizz ease thermal protection oil on ends all along so obviously not work for me :(

Only thing to prevent serious damage is abstinence from heat styling :( Even the best heat protectants can't stop damage sadly. They can prevent some damage, but not all.

I've got naturally curly hair, so the minute the weather forecast looks slightly dry, the GHD's get whipped out. My hair dresser used to be traumatised when I told her how much I use them during good weather spells :D

Unfortunately, I've got extreme fish hooks at the moment. It's been about a year and a half since I've had a hair cut, but it's at my waist so I'll definitely be getting the fish hooks and more cut out after Christmas :)
